In 1981, the first seed was sown for Brahma Kumari's operations in the Nordics. A small group of enthusiasts began to gather at the home of a young couple in Fisksätra to meditate and study spiritual knowledge from India. Ami from Finland and Javier from Spain had met BK in Australia and now wanted to share the knowledge and experience the positive power of meditating in a group. 1983 In Stuvsta, a house ready for demolition was refurbished. A wide variety of courses and programs were held there, which engaged many people. Big leaders in BK, such as Dadi Janki, Sister Jayanti and Jagdish Chander, came there to visit. A center was opened in Uppsala only to move to Copenhagen a year later, through which BK was introduced to Denmark. 1985 For a couple of years, Brahma Kumaris lived in a villa in Enskede. 1987 The business moved again, now to a shop in Björkhagen. In the creaky little room with cardboard walls, great deeds took place. Courses, programs, theatre, entertainment and visits by Dadi Prakashmani, then International Director of BK. With Brian Bacon, leadership consultant from Australia, we held programs in the defense and business world and we got to know PeÅ Schörling, Major and head of MARULK, the Navy's leadership training at Berga Orlogsskolor. PeÅ opened the door to spirituality for many in leadership positions over the next 10 years. In 1993 the premises became too cramped and the decision to move coincided with the effects of the construction crash. Many premises were empty in the city. We found premises on Styrmansgatan, next to Strandvägen. The number of course participants increased drastically and despite increased space, we had to double the number of courses to cope with the pressure. It seemed to have a clear connection with the economic crisis. In 1994, the new center on Styrmansgatan was inaugurated by Dadi Janki, Syster Jayanti and Brian Bacon. Self Managing Leadership became a hit and was held regularly on Styrmansgatan and in organizations such as the Armed Forces, IHM Business School and later at HageGården Musikcenter in Värmland.
