Both of our teachers have received Inca in the Cloud-Water Sangha tradition and are thus licensed to teach. Their teaching has a strong anchoring in Japanese Zen but without any compulsion to maintain forms that do not fit in a Western context. Over the years, their teaching style has evolved as a consequence of their endeavor to both preserve the valuable forms of the Zen tradition and make Zen accessible and relevant to today's people. Their method is first and foremost about "experiencing yourself". The student is encouraged to explore reality himself with the help of his practice. At the same time, the teaching is also based on the rich Zen literature, which includes, among other things, three cow collections (Mumonkan, Hekiganroku and Shoyoroku), the Buddhist sutras and the texts of various Zen masters. Both teachers also study other traditions and subject areas, and their teishos (speeches given to practitioners) can cover such diverse areas as physics, consumerism, climate change and parenting. They are active in intellectual and cultural life in Sweden and participate in panel discussions and committees. Both originally studied art and Kanja roshi maintains an interest in photography. Sante roshi has published a book dealing with the common ground of science and Buddhism, The Web of Being .
