Welcome to Samik Yoga The term Yoga has its verbel root as (Yuj) in sanskit. Yuj means joining. Yoga is that which joins.In the traditional terminology it is joining od Jivatma with Paramatma the individual self with the universal SELF. Yoga is a spiritual science of self-realisation. It comes from India and goes back over five thousand of years. The Indian sage Pantajali, in his Yoga sutras defines yoga as the control of the activities of the mind. Yoga methods encompass the entire field of our existence, from the physical, emotional and mental to the spiritual. Its methods include ethical disciplines, physical postures, breath control, as well as meditation. The four paths of Yoga lead us this goal: 1) KARMA YOGA: The word Karma means to do, to act. Any mental or physical act is called Karma. There are two types of Karma: SAKAMA KARMA- salfish actions NISHKAMA KARMA- salfless actions 2) BHAKTI YOGA Is the path of devotion and love for GOD and for the whole of creation - animals, as well as humans, and all of nature. There are two taypes of BHAKTI APARA BHAKTI - Egoistic love PARA BHAKTI - Universal love 3) JNANA YOGA Is the philosophical path. 4) RAJA YOGA: Is also known as the Royal path of Yoga or the Eight step path. One of the major contributions of Patanjali's YOGA SUTRAS is the eight- limbed Yoga, popularly known as Astanga Yoga, Which gives acomprehensive and systematic approach for developing the mind. The eight limbs are.
