About the MADC
Kadampa Meditation Center MD 2The Mid-Atlantic Dharma Celebration is an annual regional event that includes Buddhist teachings, meditations, and a blessing ceremony called an empowerment. An empowerment is a blissful guided meditation through which we receive powerful blessings that enrich our body speech and mind.
This year, Kadam Morten will grant the empowerment of the Wisdom Buddha Je Tsongkhapa, connecting us to an endless source of wisdom that will sustain us throughout our spiritual journey. The empowerment and subsequent commentary will unlock the door to the sublime and blissful practice of Mahamudra Tantra through which enlightenment can be accomplished swiftly. Inspired by the Kindness of Our Venerable Spiritual Guide
The Mid-Atlantic Dharma Celebration and similar events within the New Kadampa Traditional have all been inspired by our founder, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Geshe Kelsang, also affectionately called “Geshe-la†by his students, is a modern-day Buddhist master who has resided in the West since 1977. Ordained as a monk at the age of eight, Venerable Geshe-la has worked his entire life to guide others along the spiritual path. Thanks to his vision of providing practical Buddhist teachings to modern people, over 1,100 Centers and and meditation groups are flourishing around the world.
In the New Kadampa Tradition, all regional Dharma Celebrations, national Festivals, and International Festivals, support the International Temples Project (ITP) charity. The ITP is dedicated to building both traditional and modern Kadampa Buddhist Temples for world peace in every major city throughout the world. The ITP was founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso to support the development of Kadampa Buddhism and introduce people everywhere to Buddha’s practical teachings for increasing inner peace and benefiting others.
