Yogaville is a vibrant spiritual community built on the precepts of Integral Yoga as taught by Sri Swami Satchidananda. Blending the power of the various branches of Yoga into one complete practice, Integral Yoga’s holistic and gentle approach brings benefit to many aspects of one’s life.
Our mission is to practice, live, and impart the Integral Yoga teachings of Sri Swami Satchidananda, to experience Supreme Peace and Joy, and to share that with one and all. The Satchidananda Ashram-Yogaville community is diverse and spiritually rich, fostering the simple and powerful teachings of Yoga. Satchidananda Ashram-Yogaville was founded by Sri Swami Satchidananda (Sri Gurudev), an esteemed spiritual leader whose message of peace has been heard around the globe. Honored with the Albert Schweitzer Humanitarian Award, Sri Gurudev dedicated his life to the cause of peace – both individual and universal – and to religious harmony among all people. His teachings are the Ashram’s guiding principles.
His Service
Swami Satchidananda received many honors for his public service including, the Albert Schweitzer Humanitarian Award, the Juliet Hollister Interfaith Award and the U Thant Peace Award. In 1999, the 50th anniversary of his ministerial ordination was commemorated during the interfaith service prior to the opening of the 54th General Assembly of the United Nations. Swami Satchidananda dedicated his life to the cause of peace – both individual and universal – and to unity and harmony among all people.
The most popular accommodations we have are Dormitory Accommodations – shared room and shared bath. We have two dormitories, Vivekananda Vihar and Ramalinga Nilayam, which are centrally heated and air-conditioned and convenient to meals and programs. The rooms are able to comfortably accommodate from two to eight people in upper and lower bunk beds.
A limited number of Private Dormitory* rooms with shared bathrooms are also available for one or two people. Dormitory accommodations are not coed. Please advise if you are not able to climb stairs. *Not available online. To make a Private Dormitory reservation, call +1 (800) 858-9642.
There is no public transportation from Charlottesville or Richmond to Yogaville. You may wish to rent your own car or contact the Ashram Reservation Center at (800) 858-9642 to arrange transportation to the Ashram. We are not able to provide pickup/dropoff service for any city but Charlottesville. The standard fee for transportation is: $45 each way 9am – 8pm and $55.00 8pm – 9:30pm. Transportation to Charlottesville is served by Amtrak, Greyhound, NYC Shuttle or the following airlines: US Air, United, American Airlines and Delta. Please Note: A full refund of the transportation charge is available if you give us notice of your change of plans at least 3 days (72 hours) in advance. If you give notice with less than 72 hours, a $10 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund. The transportation charge is not refundable if the request is cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice.
