Firefly Yoga Studio

I have tried yoga in the past and never liked it. It was always fitness led and I never felt like I was accomplishing anything, I also felt out of place because I was a beginner. I started taking Mysore classes at Birmingham Yoga and finally understood why yoga is so great. The instructors are amazing, Shannon and Heather in particular. I can ask questions and they help me think of postures differently rather than just saying the pose and expecting me to know what to do. Its a very clean studio and the people who attend classes are very welcoming. I know most of the people in Mysore are much more advanced than I am but I never feel like I shouldn't be there; everyone is nice and helpful and encouraging.

This place is amazing! I took the Introduction to yoga class with Ingrid and the Ashtanga Level 1 class with Akasha in the fall/winter of 2015. I was new to yoga and very, very nervous but they put me at ease! Ingrid is great at adjusting you and perfecting your poses and making jokes to make you feel more comfortable. My favorite things about Akasha's class were the chants and readings or short "talks" he gave either before or after class. They were inspirational and, for me, this was THE reason to do go somewhere to do yoga as a group rather than learn it at home. I always left the studio feeling as light as air and so happy! I can't wait to go back this summer. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
