Everyday People Yoga is an all-inclusive yoga studio/school that cultivates spiritual community. Together we practice postures, meditation, energy control, and universal chanting. The yoga classes we share eliminate competition, judgment, and exclusivity. Our teachers approach the profession as a labor of love and service, striving to be as genuine, compassionate, and helpful as possible. The donation model has been established to allow for seekers from all walks of life to experience the benefits of yoga.EPY is a donation-based Vinyasa yoga studio, as well as a school for yoga teachers (RYS) with its home base in Eugene, Oregon. Vinyasa classes are physically challenging yet accessible, with flowing poses that are arranged in a safe way. Restorative and gentle yoga classes are for students who either desire a slower pace, or are newer to yoga. New to yoga? No problem! The beauty of Yoga is that it can be adapted to suit the needs of every age, body type, and physical background. All that is needed on your part is an open mind, and a willingness to explore your body. The physical aspect of yoga is known as hatha yoga, and is a process of listening to your body as you practice each posture, using the breath as a guide. With time and patience, eventually the effects of yoga begin to spread to every aspect of your life, giving you a greater sense of well-being. If you’ve never participated in a yoga class before, taking either a restorative yoga class, or a gentle yoga class can be a great introduction to the practice. The key to improving the quality of life with yoga is to go slowly, and enjoy the process! Preparing for class: Wear comfortable clothing that will allow you room to move around without discomfort. Try not to drink or eat too much an hour and a half before class starts. Coming to class with an empty bladder and bowels always helps! Plan on arriving 10 to 15 minutes early, so that you can get to know your teacher and let her/him know about any injuries or physical limitations. Loaner mats are available for new students. Having your own personal mat helps too! Out of consideration for others, please try to refrain from wearing strong fragrances such as perfumes and lotions. We do diffuse essential oils to enhance the overall experience of the class – please let us know if you do not wish to have the oils diffused during class, we will turn gladly shut the diffuser off. Turn off or silence your phone.
