Partners Al Waldis and T.J. Pelletier started The Salty Pelican Bar & Grill in 2012. Both have spent several years in the Food and Beverage / Hospitality Industry working for such companies as The Ritz Carlton LLC, Amelia Island Plantation, and Orient Express Hotels, and have decided to bring that experience together and create the The Salty Pelican Bar & Grill. The idea of the Salty Pelican Bar & Grill started over some cold ones during Happy Hour one summer afternoon. Owners Al Waldis and T.J. Pelletier set out on a mission to create an experience that encompasses an exciting location, great food, and a fun atmosphere. After searching all over we chose the exact location where we are now, and the rest is history. Our mission is to deliver high quality, consistent food and beverage through friendly, genuine service in the perfect location.
The hostel has just had a complete renovation from top to bottom, so you'll find everything new, comfortable, modern, secure and clean. With comfy new beds, personal lockers, fully equipped guests kitchen, laundry facilities, luggage storage, herb garden, and new super clean bathrooms. Its been converted into a stunning traveler's meeting point; featuring a cozy lounge, awesome chill-out BBQ terrace and peaceful gardens. So whether you're up early to go check out the beach or stretch out those achy muscles with morning beach yoga, joining one of the classes to surf lessons, or your just after a few lazy craft beers on the terrace before hitting the town. The accommodation includes a comfy bed in a spacious room with shared bathrooms and a delicious breakfast with fresh fruits, yogurt, juices, cereals, fresh bread and lots more. Besides the awesome time you will have learning to surf, this hostel has all the comforts of a home. The living room at the hostel has lots of fun board games, free WiFi and music. If The Salty Pelicans all day menu of delicious homemade BBQ pulled pork burgers, surprisingly good toasted bagels, and healthy salads doesn't tempt you, they also have a big kitchen for you to cook up a storm in. To explore the town, you can rent bicycle and skateboard from the reception.

Driving directions from Lisbon If you are arriving by car, the fastest way to arrive in Cascais is by taking highway A5, you have to pay a toll of 1.30 EUR more or less. You also can take the N6 (Via Av. Marginal) along the more scenic coastal drive to Cascais. Arrival by airplane Please arrive at Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS). Arrival by train Airport If you are coming from Lisbon Airport (LIS), take the RED metro line towards So Sebastio and get off at the Alameda station and there you must change to green line that will take you directly to Cais do Sodre train station (end of the line). Approximate journey time is 20 minutes, and the ticket price is around 1.40 EUR. Lisbon city center From the above ground Cais do Sodr train station, take the train that connects Lisbon to Cascais, and get off at Monte Estoril Station (second last stop). Sit on the left side of the train for the best views. Approximate journey time is 30 minutes, and the ticket price is 2.15 EUR.
