Jamie Segal Hanley – Owner/Director ERYT-200, RYT-500
Jamie Segal Hanley has been practicing yoga since 2003, and completed the 200-hour Bright Spirit Yoga Teacher Training in 2008. After spending six years working in cosmetics marketing, Jamie decided it was time to help others feel beautiful through yoga, and opened Elevate Yoga in May 2009. A Holmdel native, she is excited to bring an authentic yoga experience to her hometown, and seeks to create a safe and welcoming community to support the ongoing practice of yoga.
Jamie’s mindful flow classes are rooted in compassion and intention while focusing on groundedness, safety, and alignment. She finds inspiration in the teachings of Jillian Pransky, Seane Corn, and Bo Forbes, and studies with these teachers as often as possible. She has had the honor of assisting Jillian on several yoga retreats in the northeast.
In 2010, Jamie brought YogaWorks Teacher Training to Elevate Yoga, and completed their 200-hour program in 2011 , and their 500-hour professional program in 2013. For the past two years she has assisted the training with Laurel Beversdorf. Over the years she has attended several courses in the therapeutic aspects of yoga. She believes very strongly in the practice of svadhyaya – self study, inquiry or investigation- as a path to individual growth, and is passionate about the mind-body connection. To this end she also obtained a Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Monmouth University in 2013.
Jamie’s true mission in life is to empower people to feel their best – inside and out. She feels blessed to have been given this life, and is incredibly grateful for her family’s continued support and encouragement as she follows her heart on an uncharted journey.
Diana Segal – Co–owner RYT-500
Diana Segal began practicing yoga in 2008, when Jamie suggested they open a yoga studio. Always supportive of her daughter, Diana began attending yoga classes as often as possible, exploring different teachers and styles. She was instrumental in the opening of Elevate, and continues to help run the studio. In 2011, Diana completed YogaWorks 200 hour teacher training, and in 2013 she completed YogaWorks 500 hour advanced professional training. Having been an elementary school teacher for years, teaching yoga came very naturally to her. She has always been a proponent of exercise, and appreciates that yoga will help her continue an active, healthy lifestyle. She inspires others to do the same.
