Welcome to Palchen Study Group Jacksonville, a Tibetan Buddist practice center in the Dakpo Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. We prefer to meet weekly to practice meditation and to study Buddhist teachings. We are closed for the Summer and look forward to reopening in the Fall. If you would like Silent Sitting Meditation instruction, please email the Shrine keeper for scheduling. When open, we start the day with the Mahamudra lineage prayers and silent sitting meditation. Free instruction in meditation is available upon request. Our practice emphasis is on stabilizing our sitting meditation. We also study one the the books recommended by Rinpooche from the reading list. If you have any questions, or would like to speak to the facilitator, please email the facilitator. To stay up to date, please visit us on FaceBook. There is no charge to attend the Buddhist study group and all are welcome. Chairs are provided for those who are not able to sit on the floor. Please bring a meditation cushion if you have one. (Lama has advised that all arrive promptly. Once practice has begun, we will not be admitting those who arrive late. We will provide texts and flat floor cushions. Please bring your own small cushion for meditation. ) When we practice we begin with traditional Tibetan opening prayers (you are welcome to participate, or not as you see fit) followed by a short period of silent sitting meditation. We then move to the book study portion of the meeting and read aloud from the book we are currently studying. After a period of reading, we may have another short sitting practice, and then active discussion of the text.
