Pine Wind Zen Community, Jizo-An Monastery in Shamong, New Jersey is a contemporary Zen-Buddhist Spiritual Community dedicated to the development of the relationship between traditional Zen-Buddhist training as it evolved in Japan, Western Contemplative practices and traditions, and integrating these ancient wisdom practices into daily modern living. The Monastery is the main house of The Order of The Great Lights - a Western Zen-Buddhist monastic sangha and lay-community and home to Seijaku Roshi, Founder and Abbot.

Our mission is to provide a context for Community, Contemplation, Meditation, Training and cultivating a deeper Spirituality. Offering educational and inspiring programs designed not only to inform but to empower persons from any faith or no faith to live a more deeply meaningful life based on the principles of Living a Zen-Inspired Life, a contemplative life, loving-kindness and compassion.
The Temple is a place where people can come to slow down in a serene environment conducive for meditation, reflection, and retreat, and experience the healing benefits of a quiet mind; learn; grow, and draw from the tremendous strength of dedicated monks and laypersons practicing together, and the deep stillness that lies within each one of us.
OUR INTENTION
is to provide a conducive environment for individuals to explore the spiritual dimension of life and to bring balance and some peace to their busy lives by providing opportunities to meditate, explore Buddhist and Western Contemplative teachings, and discover ways that Zen (Authentic Spirituality) can be expressed in the mundane activities of daily life.
Pine Wind (PWZC) is a community of people welcoming diversity, encouraging one another in the practice of awakening through Zen meditation; a life of Contemplation, Prayer and Service, cultivating the ground for Wisdom and Benevolence as a force for healing in our world. The core practice is meditation (zazen) and mindfulness which is a practice that can awaken us to the realization of our essential nature which is not contingent on gender, religion, or beliefs.
