Kadampa Buddhism is a Mahayana Buddhist school founded by the greatn Buddhist Master Atisha (AD 982-1054).
His followers are known as ‘Kadampas’. Ka refers to Buddha’s teachings, and dam to Atisha’s special Lamrim instructions known as ‘the stages of the path to enlightenment’. Kadampas, then, are practitioners who regard Buddha’s teachings as personal instructions and put them into practice by following the instructions of Lamrim.
Our Center, Tushita KBC, was founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in 2002 based on a request for teachings. We are here to provide the people of the South Sound Region with the opportunity to learn about meditation and its benefits, and how to practice Buddha’s timeless teachings. We are part of a global network of over 1100 Centers and groups in 41 countries. We are a non-profit, volunteer-based organization, dedicated to helping people develop peace and joy from within their own heart.
If you wish to participate in the activities at the center, we recommend that you begin with one of our General Program classes.
Chanted prayers or chanted meditation (pujas) are a component of training in a spritual life. They help us still our mind, connect with the Buddhas, and receive the inspiring energy of blessings. Below are some of the pujas we engage in together at the center. Please check the calendar for any schedule changes. All pujas are free. Everyone welcome.
