We offer teachings and practice in the Sanbo Kyodan style which originated from the Harada-Yasutani School of Zen Buddhism as it flows through the Maria Kannon Zen Center. Emphasis is given to the value of practice in daily life. Sitting meditation is offered in conjunction with the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Salem. Traditional Zen study is available privately. Each Wednesday students are invited to meet with Sensei An from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. and from 9:00 - 10:30 p.m. These meetings are brief and offered free of charge. Donations are of course welcome. To see Sensei, simply place the 3X5 card found in the left pocket of the chanting book in front of your mat. Spiritual Direction is available at the rate of $95 per hour. Please email Sensei to arrange: [email protected] Distance students speak with Sensei for 20 minutes by phone each week and join the Sangha as possible for retreats. Distance students donate $100 monthly for teacher support.
