St. Joseph’s Dwelling Place is a quaint country home in the heart of Vermont’s ski country. Located near Okemo Mountain Resort, travelers come from all over the United States and Canada to stay with us and ski the slopes during the winter months.
newsEnjoy the quiet, prayer and peace of our natural Vermont setting, three miles North of Weston Priory, three miles South of Okemo Mountain. Located in the small New England town of Ludlow, Vermont, St. Joseph’s Dwelling Place accommodates groups of various sizes. For larger groups (up to 12 people), consider renting the entire house for the weekend for $1,000. Included in the weekend stay is the use of the main kitchen, dining room, living room, and the cozy fireplace.

St. Joseph’s Dwelling Place has welcomed a variety of groups for various reasons. We offer spiritual retreats and couples retreats with life coaching available.
Retreats & Activities in Vermont
Individuals or small groups are free to arrange to come to Saint Joseph’s any time for experiences of prayer and reflection, joining in the public prayer times at Weston Priory as you wish, and using our guest kitchen for meals, if desired.
Private Directed Retreats
Private Directed Retreats may be arranged at a time convenient to your schedule. Retreatants usually come two to eight days, bringing your own food for breakfast, lunch and dinner in our guest kitchen. Private Spiritual Direction is available. You may complement your retreat experience by participating in prayer times and liturgies with the Benedictine brothers of nearby Weston Priory.
Two or three times per year we offer a month-long retreat which follows the pattern of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. Other possible themes for these 30-day retreats are Inner Peace, Discernment, the Enneagram, or Spirituality in the Second Half of Life. Call to choose your personal focus for the month and to arrange dates with Catherine that are convenient for your schedule.
Directed Retreat Weekends
We offer many Directed Retreat Weekends on a variety of themes for individuals, couples and small groups of up to 12 persons. Conferences, prayer times and sharing on these weekends explore prayer, contemplation, community, challenges and strategies to living a more spiritual life in the midst of the world. The Saint Joseph Room, with comfortable seating, fireplace, brick and honey-pine walls provides a warm atmosphere for conferences and sharing. Catherine Joanne, Spiritual Director, presents her reflections in a relaxed style with Catherine’s own musical compositions inserted throughout. Call to arrange dates for your couples, prayer or parish group.
Our Dwelling Place has six king- or twin-bedded rooms with semi-private bathrooms. The Saint Joseph Room, with comfortable sofas, fireplace, brick and honey-pine walls creates a warm atmosphere for conferences and sharing. A small chapel of wood, windows and brick provides opportunity for individual and community prayer. We also have a cozy sitting room-library, and an exercise room with treadmill and gym equipment. Free WIFI is available in all guestrooms, throughout the house and on the front porch deck. Individuals, couples or families may prepare their own meals in our fully-equipped guest kitchenette. Retreat groups may use our main kitchen and enjoy their meals in our bright, windowed dining room.
Located three miles South of Okemo Mountain and three miles North of Weston Priory, we offer the opportunity to combine retreat time here with other spiritual and recreational experiences. In Winter, snowshoe, hike, ski Okemo, or cross-country ski on our 6 acres. In Summer, Spring or Fall, pray in our Rosary Orchard, rest beside the brook, walk along country roads or listen to the gentle sounds of sheep grazing in our meadow.
