Dhamma Rasmi Vipassana Meditation Center

Dhamma Rasmi (‘Rasmi’ means ray of light or sunshine) is in Pomona, a town located nearly 140km north of Brisbane and 30km inland from Noosa, a popular tourist destination.

Pomona sits in a network of small towns, farms and subtropical bushland that make up the Noosa hinterland.

Set on fifty acres of gently sloping land, Dhamma Rasmi is approximately one kilometre from shops and public transport and yet protected by corridors of trees and pockets of bushland. Mount Cooroora provides a striking backdrop to its extensive gardens, and the peaceful atmosphere of the centre encourages visiting native wildlife, including families of kangaroos.

The meditation hall is at the highest, and most secluded, part of the site and the land slopes downward from here towards a lily-covered dam, which welcomes students at the centre’s entrance.

Ten day courses are held in various locations the Northern Rivers area of northern NSW and the Gold Coast area of southern Queensland. More information on the worldwide movement of Vipassana Meditation can be found on the international Vipassana Meditation website. Course Finances Courses are run solely on a donation basis. There are no charges for the courses, not even to cover the cost of food and accommodation. All expenses are met by donations from those who have completed a course, experienced the benefits of Vipassana, and wish to give others the same opportunity. Neither the Teacher nor the Assistant Teachers receive remuneration; they and those who organise the courses volunteer their time.

My name is Jacqueline Brandes and I welcome you to my site – jbyogafit.com - Firstly, I would love to introduce myself to you and tell you what it was that drove me to create this site.

Five years ago, I felt as though everything was falling apart, especially my body. I was suffering from grief due to a death in my immediate family and on top of that I was juggling a high-pressure corporate IT job in an international investment bank, a new relationship, as well as living in a new country. It all started to become too much for me both physically and mentally.

I went to see doctors, chiropractors, physiotherapists and specialists to try and find reasons behind my quick physical and mental decline. Physically, I was suffering from severe dizziness. On top of that I had chronic neck, shoulder and back pain that just never seemed to go away and therefore I had a lot of time off work, which only added to my stress levels. I was at a very low point and nothing seemed to be working to fix the problem.

The only thing that seemed to make me feel a little better was doing Yoga and some breathing exercises. I had been practicing Yoga on and off for more than 10 years and the slight difference it did make was enough for me to begin researching Yoga and other natural therapies in order to improve my quality of life. I found even just researching and reading about the benefits gained, gave me more of a lift than anything else I had been exposed to medically or otherwise.

Then at the beginning of 2009 I was made redundant from my corporate job and for a while felt that everything that I had worked for was slowly vanishing before my eyes. But, through the gentle persuasion of my very supportive partner, I began to look at that moment as a turning-point in my life, maybe even the opportunity to completely re-invent myself.

After researching many different natural therapies and practices, I embarked on a training course to become a qualified Solomon Yogalatesâ„¢ instructor, which is a blend of Yoga and Pilates and combines them into a truly unique and uplifting workout routine. Throughout the study, I followed the routines myself and was astounded in the changes I saw, both physically and mentally.

My body shape began to change and the areas that were giving me the most trouble being my neck, shoulders and back, started to strengthen and the ongoing persistent issues melted away over time – And most importantly, the dizziness was dissipating. After achieving certification as an instructor, I found great joy in teaching other people these amazing workout routines and being able to see great changes in them and their lives as well.

Since being certified in Solomon Yogalatesâ„¢, I have also become a certified instructor in Iyengar Yoga, sports nutrition and weight-loss/weight management. And it is this blend of training and techniques that I have incorporated into this site; with the possibilities of being able to reach more people and hoping that maybe, just maybe I can help to change your life too.

For the past 20 years she has been deeply committed on the path of Yoga and ancient Non-Dual wisdom. She has been teaching since 1996. She incorporates iRest and Self-Inquiry in her teachings of Yoga, somatic body awareness and meditation at her Yoga studio, Prema Yoga, on the Gold Coast, Australia and internationally. In 2007, Richard Miller, her spiritual mentor, brought to Fuyuko a deeper understanding of living life in a Non-Dual way, in harmony with all of life. Fire Shaper is an evolutionary practice of Hot Yoga. We bring a number of different elements into our controlled heated room which enable you to participate in a way that you may have never imagined. WHAT IS FIRE SHAPER? Hot yoga is a series of poses, or asana’s, carried out within a heated environment, typically 100 – 105°F, and a humidity of 40% – 50%. Bikram Choudhury had introduced his version of Hot Yoga in the 1970s called Bikram Yoga which, quickly became one of the most adopted yoga practices in the US. The heat and humidity allows increased results and flexibility in the body, helping you gradually attain your personal best with the poses, whilst simultaneously expelling harmful toxins from your body. It will also assist you with a range of benefits, from losing fat, building core muscles, improving balance, increasing energy, assisting sleep, and decreasing stress. The combination of the poses and the increased temperature helps stimulate and restore health to your joints, organs, muscles, and immune system whilst detoxifying your body. Her husband Dr. John is originally a licensed chiropractor in the United States since 1997 and currently a licensed chiropractor practicing in Autstralia since 2015. A skilled martial artist and certified hot yoga instructor, Dr John began practicing heated yoga when he met Natalie in 2000. In 2002 they opened their first hot yoga studio in Westwood NJ. Since then the company has evolved from one to four chic studio spaces.
