Reflections On Yoga By Vivienne O'Brien The more yoga I practise the more I’m at a loss to explain it. One of my students said to me that she found it difficult to explain to her friends why doing a ‘few stretches’ every day had made such a profound effect on her life. INTRODUCTORY COURSE Our Introductory course is designed for people who are true beginners to yoga. We don’t expect you to have any particular level of fitness or flexibility. We start at the beginning to give you the best opportunity to understand and get ‘hooked on yoga’. The course is also ideal for easing yourself back into yoga if you have had a break or are new to the Iyengar Yoga method. The course will introduce you to standing poses, twists and gentle back and forward bends with a focus on the foundation of each pose and how this generates energy throughout the body. Each class finishes with relaxation. The five weeks are aimed at giving you a taste of yoga - to inspire you to develop a yoga practice. Most students feel the difference within the first couple of classes, commenting that they feel taller or more buoyant or that their mind is clearer or simply that they sleep well after every class.
