Arya Vaidya Nilayam (AVN) was founded in 1930 by renowned Ayurvedic Physician Arya Vaidyan N. Rama Varier, who was a disciple of Vaidya Ratnam P.S. Varier of Kottakkal. After Dr Rama Varier, his son-in-law Dr P.V. Raghava Varier became the Chief Physician of the clinic and he heads the organization as the Chairman.
In 1980, when the firm celebrated the Golden Jubilee, AVN established a manufacturing facility to produce Ayurvedic medicines. A small Nursing Home and Research Centre were also added in the Madurai site.
After achieving a reasonable size in the manufacturing field, focus now is on expanding the hospital and clinics where the company enjoys an experience of over 80 years.

AVN’s associate firm, AVN Arogya Healthcare Ltd owns a nursing home and three clinic-cum-treatment centers (CCTC) in Madurai, two each in Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and one in Cochin, Kerala.
