About Somatheeram Kerala Palace Ayurveda Resort
The Soma Group was born in 1985 with their first venture, Somatheeram Ayurveda Resort, which was the first of its kind in the world. Located in Trivandrum, Kerala, 9 km south of the famous Kovalam Beach, the resort is a Classified Heritage and Green Leaf Classified Ayurveda Resort.
The Group expanded under the excellent stewardship of Mr. Baby Mathew, Managing Director and Architect of Somatheeram Ayurveda Resort. Mr. Baby Mathew who has been promoting Ayurveda and Tourism both at the national and international level, has played a significant role in making Ayurveda popular in Europe.
The Soma Group owns and operates hotels and resorts across Kerala.
What makes Soma Kerala Palace different from other holiday resorts is its ancient architecture which is recreated using master pieces, about 250 years old, disbanded from their actual site. Classical art forms such as Koodiyattom, Thulall and Padayani, performed by veterans of the art, form a part of the Kalaa Sandhya (Cultural Evening) which was once a means of entertainment for the royalty.
The backdrop of the lilting backwaters and the swaying palms makes the setting picture perfect. It is one place where you will find all your worries ebbing away and your spirits elevating. So take a break from the monotony of daily life to experience Kerala the way it is.
How to Get There
The resort set on an island on the Vembanad Lake, Chempu, Cochin, Kerala, is at a distance of 4 kms from Vaikkom town. Our special boat service brings our guests from the mainland to the resort. The resort is at a distance of 56 kms from the Cochin International Airport and about 150 kms away from the Trivandrum International Airport.

Loved it ...my parents too loved the place...if you go there ...try not to miss the sun set...try to check in as early as possible ..coz this is a place which is worth it ...the hotel itself is an island ..you need to take a boat to reach there ...its a very strategically chosen location which has to be accessed by a boat ..had n amazing experience ..
The best part of this resort is the travel in the boat to reach this island resort. The location is superb! Surrounded by water all over, this island resort is a perfect getaway. As others have rightly mentioned, this place has an antique touch which some people may not like. But if you like heritage style buildings, this is an excellent place to go. They are specialists in authentic ayurvedic treatments.
The resort is totally a diffrent experience as far as the location is concerned, you actually have to go via boat , which is superb! The hotel staff is very much helping, they even upgradenyour package if available also the services and food get served properly! If anyome want to spend some alome time then This place is for you, offcourse the interior of the rooms are quite classy and beautifully designed to give you a royal feel. At the end i would like to say that it's a total surprise package for you!
It's very far from both Alleppey and Kochi. Located at a nice location but gives a little antique haunted touch. It's good for longer stays and Ayurveda massage treatments. They even have doctors. Food is really good though not much options.
Excellent place to relax. Food is delicious and staffs are very cooperative. Rooms are clean but will give you some kind of dark atmosphere. Overall excellent place for relaxation
