About Amala Ayurvedic Hospital
Amala Cancer Hospital and Research Centre was established in 1978 as nonprofit, charitable institution aimed at treatment and management of Cancer in Central Kerala. Over the years, Amala has grown to become one of the major voluntary territory level hospital in having modern diagnostic, therapeutic and research facilities to combat Cancer and other ailments. This 550 bed hospital complex is unique in having three principal systems of medicines namely Allopathy, Ayurveda and Homoeopathy in the same campus. We are handling an average of 4,000 new Cancer cases and 6,000 Cancer inpatients in a year. The centre manages 35,000 Cancer outpatient visits yearly.
Then system of Medicine, Ayurveda is ancient and rich. Its earliest concepts are set out in the sacred writings called the Vedas, especially in the metrical passages of the Atharvaveda, which may possibly date as far back as the 2nd millennium BC. This system of Medicine has been practiced in the Country from time immemorial and has stood the test of time. Amala realised the potentials of this holistic system. This resulted in establishing Amala Ayurveda Hospital in the Complex in February 1982.
Amala Ayurvedic Hospital has a bed-strength of over 100. Treatment is given for all general diseases including rheumatic disorders, peptic ulcer, psoriasis etc. Special treatments like Dhara, Massage, Navarakizhi etc. are given for patients who have complaints of Hemiplegia, Paraplegia, Facial Paralysis, Arthritis etc
