A Brief Biography of Bodhi Meditation’s Founder Grandmaster JinBodhi was born in 1964 to a poor family and suffered ill-health from a young age. As a child, he witnessed the tragic deaths of both an older and a younger brother from starvation and illness. These heartbreaking experiences were his first tastes of life’s miseries and what he later came to understand as the deep suffering that afflicts all of humankind. When he was seven years old, Grandmaster JinBodhi’s family moved to Qinghai. Under the tutelage of several accomplished masters, he regained his health and broke free from a life of physical and mental frailty. Through meditation, he changed the course of his fate. As he deepened his practice, he awakened to the spiritual path that leads to liberation from suffering. He also gained the ability and auspicious energy to help people set themselves free from pain. “When one person leaves suffering behind, it is not something to congratulate ourselves about, but when many people leave suffering, it is a joy.†Grandmaster JinBodhi has eyes for those who suffer from illness, poverty, afflictions, and torments because he sees in them himself.
