Wellington Group The Diamond Way Buddhist group in Wellington has been established in 2007. We meet for meditation on Tuesdays at 7pm, with an intro talk for newcomers on the first Tuesday of the month. No experience necessary! Our address is 22 Wigan Street, entrance next to Street Soundz, first upper level. Diamond Way Buddhism Diamond Way Buddhism is part of the thousand year old Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Founded in the 1970’s by the Danish Buddhist master, Lama Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah Nydahl, they brought the essential teachings from the East to the West, on the request of their teacher, the 16th Karmapa. There are now over 640 Diamond Way centres worldwide. Diamond Way Buddhism provides easy access to authentic Buddhist teachings and meditations for use in contemporary life. Following western culture and language, the methods are transparent and accessible. You can find everything you need at a local Diamond Way centre nearby. Teachers The Karma Kagyu lineage has been passed on from a realised teacher to student for over a thousand years. Having an authentic Buddhist teacher is essential to one’s development in the Vajrayana. The Kagyu lineage has many accomplished teachers as examples of enlightened activity. Their methods are accessible, providing a clear way to follow for any student wishing to practice and attain a similar result. Below are the main teachers that are relevant to the West.
