TEACHINGS Mindfulness Mindfulness is moment-to-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and the surrounding environment. It means tuning in to what is happening in the present moment and letting go of focusing on the past or future. Insight Meditation Insight Meditation is a tradition of practice that originates from the 2600 year old Theravada teachings of the Buddha. It is primarily concerned with seeing clearly into the nature of life as we experience it, and finding a place of clear knowing and freedom in the heart. From this place we can discover for ourselves how to live beautifully and skilfully in the world, and relate to our lives with integrity and self respect. Qigong Qigong is based in thousands of years of wisdom and understanding of human energy systems. Simple energy practices can help to rebalance and restore energy-flow, bringing more calmness, vitality and joy to body and mind. Our Teachers Original Nature’s teachers, Hugh Tennent and Erin Taylor, both have decades of experience as meditation practitioners and teachers and are dedicated to living the dharma and supporting others to do so. Erin Taylor Erin was introduced to Buddhism as a child and began meditation practice in her late teens. She is a founding teacher of Original Nature. She studied Qigong in New Zealand and in China and has taught Qigong for more than 20 years. This experience has taught her the importance of spiritual practice grounded in the body and she is committed to a holistic approach combining embodied (somatic) meditation practices, energy work and qigong with meditation. She is a mother and grandmother and lives with her partner and family in Lyall bay. She teaches piano part-time as well as meditation and qigong.
