The yoga classes need to be booked in advance so please see the Timetable for details of the class times and prices and call or email to book a place. Not everyone can teach and being able to do the most perfect yoga posture is very different from being able to teach it.Given our years of practice, both Natalie and I have a wealth of knowledge and experience that is simply not available to every teacher. We have an understanding of how the body should work in the yoga postures and know how to adjust students safely and how to utilise the equipment so that everyone can attain better postures.
We are sensitive to a student’s needs, particularly beginners or those with limited experience, and we bring a sympathetic, friendly and humorous approach to our teaching. Students always work hard in our classes but leave feeling exhilarated with a body that has been stretched and challenged in the way that nature intended.
These days, yoga can be found in the gym, the local community centre, the church hall or specialist studios but it can often involve a class of twenty or thirty students, a different teacher every few weeks or a dance/fitness instructor who happens to teach a little yoga. Equipment might be limited and in poor condition, the surroundings unsuitable or, even, dirty and the teacher simply unable to give students the care and attention that they require. At ArkYoga, the classes have a maximum size of 10 (8 in the Pregnancy) and each student is given individual attention. We actively adjust students so that bad habits and the risks that come with poor practice, such as injury, are avoided. The atmosphere is friendly and nurturing but based on a foundation of serious yoga practice and teaching.
The studio at ArkYoga is an intimate space with a beautiful wooden floor. It is bright and clean and all the equipment is provided. The studio has a separate entrance and there are full changing facilities.
