Welcome
Since 1993, the Global Retreat Centre near Oxford has welcomed thousands of people from across the world. The Centre offers residential and one-day retreats, as well as lectures, seminars and courses on meditation, personal growth and spiritual development. It is administered by the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University UK – a registered charity since 1975. Around the world the Brahma Kumaris work in local communities in more than 120 countries, teaching Raja Yoga Meditation as a way of life to experience peace of mind and a positive approach to life. Locally, our services are offered via an extensive network of professional trained volunteers, right in the heart of communities.
What We Offer
Our events range from residential retreats to talks and courses, for grass roots workers in the community to dialogues for leading thinkers on international and environmental issues. All aim to provide insights and experiences into the basics of meditation and the application of values. Whatever your reason for visiting, you will find a warm welcome, a calming and unpretentious atmosphere, and sensitive and experienced speakers.
The Benefits
We understand how much the stresses and strains of life can take their toll. That’s why we think it’s important that your experience here should feel both calming for the mind and nourishing for the body. Our guests tell us that the uplifting spiritual atmosphere of the house and grounds can be clearly felt. Learning to enter into a natural state of calm enhances our ability to think more deeply, feel greater empathy and live out our values in more authentic ways. Daily calm, clear thinking and values- based living can all positively impact our relationships and well-being. The combination of openly shared wisdom, an environment for reflection and natural lightness of being helps thousands each year find breakthroughs in thinking so that they can move forward in their lives and professions.
Residential and One-day-Retreats
All the retreats are led by experienced facilitators, many of whom are from a professional background and who have learnt to interweave a spiritual approach into their personal and professional lives. They give their time voluntarily to help others see the inner changes which are necessary to cultivate a deeper contentment and a greater joy, in an often chaotic world. Each retreat is an opportunity to explore the deepest insights into the true nature of our being, review the purpose of our life and learn practical methods to sustain calm and clarity in everyday living.
Both the One-Day Retreat and residential Meditation Retreat (Inner Peace, Inner Power) provide guidance in meditation, whilst the retreats for specific professional groups are sensitively designed to explore the application of spiritual values in the workplace. The retreats are intended for participants who are 18 years of age and over.
