Hello and welcome, below you will find all the necessary information for your first class, and please read our Bikram Hot Yoga Guide and Introduction for more tips.Please arrive 30 minutes before your first class so you have enough time to register. Introduce yourself to the teacher and let them know if you have any illness or injury. If purchasing the introductory offer you will be asked for proof of ID .
You will need
Yoga clothes, two towels (one to put on your mat and one for the shower after class) and a bottle of water. Yoga mats are supplied free of charge, you can rent towels for £1.50 each and buy bottles of water for £1 and coco water for £2, we also sell yoga mats for £15 and sticky grip towels at £35.
All students are encouraged to complete the full 90 minute class , As a beginner the way to ensure that you complete your first class and last the duration – 90 minutes; is to pace yourself and allow your body to get used to the heat. Focus on breathing slowly through the nose.The studio is a place where we observe silence, the only items permitted in the studio are mats, towels and water. Bikram Choudhury
Born in Calcutta in 1946, Bikram began Yoga at the age of four with Bishnu Ghosh,’s most renowned physical culturist at that time. Ghosh was the first to scientifically document Yoga’s ability to cure chronic physical ailments and heal the body.
Bikram practiced Yoga between four and six hours every day at Ghosh’s College of Physical Education in Calcutta. At the age of thirteen, Bikram won the National Yoga Championship. Undefeated for the following three years he retired as the undisputed All-India National Yoga Champion.
At seventeen Bikram suffered a serious knee injury during a weight-lifting accident. It was the opinion of European doctors that Bikram would never walk again. Not accepting their opinion, Bikram returned to Ghosh’s school, for he knew that if anyone could help to heal his knee, it was his Guru, Bishnu Ghosh.
Six months later the knee had totally recovered. Bikram was asked by Ghosh to start several Yoga Schools in. The schools were so successful that Ghosh asked Bikram to travel to Japan where two more schools were opened.
Bikram has since brought his curative method of Yoga therapy around the world and is the founder of the worldwide Yoga College of. Bikram believes that a body with a strong healthy spine wants to and will cure itself; that regular yoga practice is an effective and natural method of healing.
