Anuttara Yoga is a specific style of yoga that depends on the intellectual foundation of Maharishi Patanjali’s Raja Yoga, the physical practices as described by Yogiraj Krishnamacharya and Yogiraj Bishnu Goshe and the spiritual path to Self Realization as promulgated by Lahiri Mahasaya Baba, Sri Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri and Sri Swamiji Paramahansa Yogananda.
Come practice with us !
All are welcome, from beginners to the advanced practitioner. We have classes all day, everyday to accommodate everyone’s schedule. Each class is 90 minutes with additional time for meditation and recovery. All our classes are taught in the unique Anuttara Yoga method where emphasis is not only Asana (posture or “seatâ€), but also Bhava (mood or intention), Pranayama (breathe control or Life Force extension), Mudra (energy seal), Mantra (vibrational traversing) and Darshana (philosophy).
Anuttara Yoga Shala Grand Tapas Hall
Anuttara Yoga Shala Grand Tapas Hall is a warm and safe sanctuary where you will recover Body, Mind and Spirit. The room is heated to 93-95*F. There are classes for all levels of practice, from beginner to advanced practitioner.
Anuttara Hot Yoga – We move the body into a pose, counterpose and repose, representing the three qualities of nature, so as to safely access the body and all systems. If you are a beginner, this is an excellent way to learn the basic poses of Hatha Yoga. All levels.
Anuttara Raja Yoga – A style of yoga unique to Anuttara Yoga Schools. It encompasses a gravitational surrender in yoga poses that interpret the Yoga Sutras. We follow the prescriptions and dictates of our Guru lineage of Self-Realization. Anuttara Raja Yoga hypothesizes that the plastic tissues, primarily fascia, are the vast extensions of mind through the neuromyofascial sheaths that correspond to the meridians and the nadis (energetic channels). In Hatha Yoga we engage muscle in order to counteract gravity, whereas, in Raja Yoga we disengage muscle and surrender to gravity completely. All levels. Everyone welcome. Please note, the evening and weekend Raja classes may extend beyond 90 minutes, as they are our master classes. Enjoy!
Anuttara Vinyasa, Levels 1 and 2 — A form of Hatha Yoga that flows through the Sun Salutations in Sapta Krama (seven sequences). This vigorous, dance-like practice is cardiovascular and graceful. Its logical and progressive sequencing leads the practitioner to heightened physical, emotional and spiritual awareness. Familiarity with Hatha Yoga is strongly advised.
