I founded Liberty Pilates as a natural extension of my healthy lifestyle and desire to educate others about Pilates and the benefits of mindful physical exercise. My mantra is “Work smarter not harder.†Contrary to popular belief, pain is not a sign of an effective workout. You do need to leave your comfort zone to get results. However, I’ve learned over the years that focus, moderation and good judgment will get you a lot farther than ego.
I turned to Pilates after sustaining a string of injuries from competitive running and a vigorous yoga practice – hamstring strain, knee and sciatic pain. Pilates’ mind-body focus and emphasis on safe and efficient movement immediately resonated with me. My hips, groin and knees felt great after just a couple months. I became stronger and more flexible than ever without having to bend myself into a pretzel. Pilates also helped relieve chronic tension in my neck and shoulders so I was able to cancel my regular chiropractic appointments.
