Take food to the Abbey You can offer groceries or prepared dishes and bring them to the Abbey or send by post. Please call 509-447-5549, to see what’s needed, or you can offer what’s most meaningful to you. Make sure your dishes are vegetarian and do not contain onions, garlic, leeks, or radishes. Sponsor a lunch Lunch is the Abbey’s main meal each day. You can sponsor lunch on a specific date to commemorate special occasions—births, deaths, anniversaries, holy days, etc.—and send the text for how you would like the Abbey to dedicate the merit of your gift. Your name and dedication will be posted on the lunch table, and the community will especially dedicate for you when they do their after-lunch prayers that day. Sravasti Abbey is near Newport, Washington-an hour's drive north of Spokane, Washington and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. It is a 6-hour drive from Seattle and about 7 hours from Portland, Oregon. The nearest airport is Spokane International (GEG). Spokane also has train and bus service. Transportation options from Spokane to the Abbey are outlined below. Please schedule your transportation so that you arrive at the Abbey before 6:00 p.m. Before you arrive, please arrange transportation to your next destination. We request guests not to contact other Abbey volunteers, visitors, or neighbors directly to arrange rides to the Abbey. Driving Interstate-90 is the main east-west route through Spokane and most people take either US Highway 2 (from Spokane and Sandpoint) or Idaho 41 (from Coeur d'Alene) to reach us.
