Dharmapala Kadampa Buddhist Center was established to provide people with the opportunity to learn about and practice Buddha’s teachings. Dharmapala Kadampa Buddhist Center is part of the New Kadampa Tradition - International Kadampa Centers world-wide (NKT-IKBU). If you wish to participate in the activities at the center, we recommend that you begin with one of our General Program classes. The General Program Drop In Meditation Classes are suitable for both experienced meditators and those who are new to meditation. The purpose of meditation is to cultivate those states of mind that are conducive to peace and well-being. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso is the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition. He is a fully accomplished meditation master and an interntionally revered teacher of Buddhism. Born in Tibet, he ordained as a Buddhist monk at 8 years old, and subsequently engaged in 38 years of study and meditation retreat. Geshe-la, as he is affectionately called by his students, moved to the West in 1977 and has dedicated his whole life to bringing Buddhism to modern practitioners. He has established over 1,000 Kadampa Buddhist Centers and branches around the world and written over 20 highly acclaimed books.
