Rainforest Paradise in the Caribbean
A stay at our resort perched 1400 feet above sea level in a lush tropical ecological reserve will immerse you into one the most bio-diverse ecosystems on Earth.
Let the soothing sounds of the rainforest lull you to sleep and wake up to the calls of howler monkeys; lounge in a hammock on your terrace with views of lush vegetation and the Caribbean Sea. Enjoy our fresh, locally sourced food, sip a drink in the lounge or relax in the outdoor Jacuzzi. Attend daily yoga classes in our resort or let us arrange ecological or adventure excursions in the vicinity.
A short drive from the bottom of our mountain lies Puerto Viejo, a culturally rich Caribbean town with laid back vibes, stunning beaches, delightful local cuisine and an unspoiled environment.
Spend your time in the resort taking advantage of the tranquil environment for reflection and rejuvenation; explore nearby towns and beaches, or engage in one of the many tours and adventure excursions in the vicinity.
At Samasati, you move at your own pace, explore and discover with guided nature treks, waterfall hikes, dips in a natural pool, bird watching and daily yoga classes. Or, relax and let go, master the art of doing nothing in your hammock or lose track of time soaking in the hot tub.
If culture, beaches, sun, surf, social connection and shopping are more your thing, our shuttle service drops guests off just a few miles away, in the lively Caribbean town of Puerto Viejo. Here you’ll find some of the best beaches, snorkeling and surf spots in all of the world. In addition to sun and sand, this laid back yet lively town is home to outstanding array of international restaurants, boutiques, bars, coffee shops, farms, tours and excursions.
A Tradition of Yoga
Since 1997 Samasati has been a pioneer of sustainable tourism as well as one of the first hotels in Costa Rica to host Yoga Teacher Training and Retreats. The founders were yoga and meditation teachers, students of Osho, looking to share the gifts of these practices. Today we are privileged and honored to continue this tradition by hosting world class yoga teacher training and retreats and also offering daily classes to hotel guests.
Samasati yoga classes are held every day at at 6.30am or at 5:00pm. Our resident Yogini, Stephanie McKenzie, hosts the sessions and customizes them to your needs. Come as you are, no prior experience is necessary.
Driving Directions The exact address of Samasati is: “Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Limon, from the public school in Hone Creek 800 meters towards Carbon 1 street” Driving Directions Samasati is located 130 miles from San Jose’ international airport. It is a very scenic drive that will take about 4 hours. We strongly recommend if driving a rented vehicle, that you leave the city of San Jose around noon, the latest at 2 p.m. so you arrive to Samasati during daylight hours. From your starting point, get directions to the Guapiles/Limon Highway. This is a road that winds up into the cloudy mountains of Braulio Carrillo’s National Park, before crossing the Santa Clara flatlands into Puerto Limon.
