It reduces low back pain, lumbar spondylosis and sciatica. Further benefits of this Ayurvedic treatment encompass alleviation of degenerative vertebral diseases, disc prolapse, and other illnesses. Kativasthi sessions usually last 30 to 45 minutes. During this time, the therapist pours a warm medicated oil over the lower back of the patient; holding the liquid there with an herbal paste boundary, typically made of dough.

It relieves the patient from acute back pain, cervical spondylosis, degenerative vertebral diseases and disc prolapse. It is also beneficial in the treatment of back muscle fatigue, neck pain and spinal disc herniation. This Ayurvedic treatment is similar to Hrid Vasthi. The therapist builds a dam on the spine region and pours medicated oil inside. Afterwards, they remove the dam and the oil, and proceed to perform an intensive massage. This activity focuses on the marma points along the spine region. The Merudanda Vasthi session can span 45 minutes to an hour and a half, during 3 to 14 days. Afterwards, patients are generally advised to engage in yoga exercises (asanas).

Some schools follow the Yoga Alliance International (IYA) standards for 500-hour RYT designation, which requires the student to complete 200-hours and 300-hours of training before receiving the 500-hour certification. Some RYS or Yoga Workshop make modules for these programs oriented to practitioners who have already completed a 300-hour program. Still other Registered Yoga Schools create intense programs which ensure the trainee knows the Five Categories of Asanas. They develop individual and specific modules for medicine, philosophy, history, asanas and classes to practice observation and experience, demonstrate knowledge of how to do the poses in each category, and/or hold workshops where students discuss their common foundation and how to build upon this foundation. Maa Yoga Ashram offers Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India, from beginner to advanced level yoga practitioners who wish to take this step. We offer hands-on training programs in classical yoga studies in the very land where yoga was originated, Rishikesh, India. Our Yoga Teacher Training is beneficial for all levels. Was was taking a 200 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh when I happened across MAA Ashram found it to be so peaceful and friendly that I came back to visit on all of my days off. Just to sit in the garden and drink tea is a welcome break from the busy market and Dr. Amrit and the other staff are extremely pleasant. After yoga teacher training I decided to stay at MAA Ashram for a 10 day retreat. It was a very good decision.

Just to inform you why the oils are administered to the soles of your feet and the benefits. The pores are thicker on the soles of your feet because our legs act like straws sucking up the compounds quickly onto the blood stream. Also the oils will reach the lower bronchial capillaries via the circulator system and the entire organism is unprocessed.

Alex – Yoga Retreat

Alex spent a week at Maa Yoga Ashram to find peace and solitude doing things she loved. Check out her experience below: I spent some time at Maa Yoga Ashram

Emilia and Anna – Ayurveda Retreat

..so it's yoga in the morning. And then it's three treatments a day. It's mostly oil massage or a clay massage… Then we have the dripping, yeah, the oil dripping on the forehead. It's really, really relaxing… really kind people working here and the atmosphere is really nice.

Joaquín – Yoga Retreat

Thanks to Amrit. I am taking with me a great friendship from India. This is because Amrit is an amazing person, unlike anyone I've met before in my life. You should be happy as you are now. And this is what you learn here: how to be happy like Amrit.

Mark and Ella – Yoga Teacher Training

We learned a lot about philosophy, yoga philosophy, happy yoga. It was very one-on-one so it was really intense…We got a really great experience here and I feel like I'm a better teacher after this program.
