The ashtanga vinyasa teacher training classes will be taught in the traditional method as taught by Pattabhi Jois. Students will be introduced to one posture at a time and will slowly progress through the series over the course of the month. Student will master each individual posture, thus, allowing a proper opening of the body and the required mental and physical preparation for the subsequent postures. This makes the practice available to everyone, meditative in nature, and also ensures students will not injure themselves. Ashtanga Yoga, not to be confused with Ashtanga vinyasa Yoga which was popularized by the famous Ashtanga yoga teacher Sri Pattabhi Jois, is a prescribed 8 limbed system of living that is said to lead an individual along the spiritual path towards self-realization and liberation. “Ashtanga,” in Sanskrit translates to “8 limbs”, or “8 branches,” and in this case refers to Yoga.

“Vinyasa” is a Sanskrit term which can be broken into two parts: nyasa, which means “to place”, and vi which means “in a special way. ” Vinyasa Yoga is a very popular style of yoga that is characterised by linking postures into a specific arrangement, while simultaneously co-ordinating movement with breath.
