Our Yoga school is located at the beautiful hill station Rishikesh. This holistic environment of our school will give you most amazing experience while practicing yoga.Tattvaa Yoga Shala is the first and oldest Ashtanga yoga school in Rishikesh and the only yoga school located on the banks of the Ganges. Founded in 2007 by senior teacher Yogi Kamal Singh in the Yoga Capital of the World, it has since expanded and become a haven for study and practice for yogis from all around the world.
It all began in our Small Shala on the banks of the sacred Ganges. Previous to being a yoga space, the Small Shala functioned as a shelter for pilgrims that would come from across to spend time with the Ganga and in the holy city of Rishikesh. Our Small Shala continues to carry the vibrance of all those who have come to Rishikesh as seekers, as it is now the home for the yoga practices of our students, who have also come from far away on pilgrimages of their own. Every year the Ganga comes to bless the shala with a flood, taking away all the exhausted energy and refreshing it with her divine energy. The Small Shala is both a vibrant and inspiring place to practice with its history and its location overlooking the water of the Ganga.
Tattvaa Yoga Shala began simply in the Small Shala with only a few students. As more and more students have come every year to practice, the school has since expanded and grown from its humble roots at the Small Shala to other locations in Ram Jula, including the expansive yoga hall at Gita Ashram. All of our yoga shala spaces overlook the scenic Himalayas or the Ganges river, continuing to allow students to practice surrounded by inspiring views and energy.
Welcome to Tattvaa Yoga Shala, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga School in the holy city of Rishikesh,! Tattvaa Yoga Shala is the only school in Rishikesh completely dedicated to the study and practice of the ancient system of Ashtanga yoga as described in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and as developed in Mysore by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois under Sri T. Krishnamacharya.
Our mission at Tattvaa Yoga Shala is to be a true reflection of all that yoga is: vibrant, purposeful, meaningful, authentic, conscious, compassionate, joyful, spiritual, and transformational. As a school we seek to help our students manifest the power and grace of Ashtanga Yoga in mind, body, and spirit and to integrate this into their practices and their lives.
Our goal at Tattvaa Yoga Shala is to help our students develop a safe and sustainable personal yoga practice with which they can reach new levels of strength, flexibility, and balance of body and mind. Our commitment is to guide your discovery of your fullest potential in all aspects of your being. We dedicate ourselves to those who would like to deepen their practice and explore the path of yoga.
At Tattvaa Yoga Shala we also aim to serve our community by sharing yoga to encourage physical health, peaceful minds and brightened spirits. Yogi Kamal Singh has taken the initiative to found the Jivan Chakra Foundation as a way to give back to the community and to bring the peace and brightness of yoga into the lives of those of disadvantage and with less access to opportunity. The Jivan Chakra Foundation is a working project to establish a space in the Rishikesh area where orphans, widows, and the elderly can come together to grow, learn, support one another, and live in harmony. To learn more about our project or to donate to our cause, please read more about our project at www.jivanchakra.org or www.jivanchakra.com.
In addition to the establishment of the Jivan Chakra Foundation, Tattvaa Yoga Shala contributes on a monthly basis through donation and service to the local Rishikesh community via the Swarg Ashram Trust and Himalaya Yog Aroga Sadhana Society.
