Each day we will deconstruct asanas (postures) chosen from the Sadhanas. We’ll open up a treasure chest of variations and prop usage to better support ALL practitioners. 

We’ll examine the physical structure of the body and dive into the influences of energetic anatomy. From daily discussions about the physiological benefits of Yin, we’ll also look at the theory of emotions and organs, and how this can affect our state of being.

This training is birthed from Persia’s own experiences with Yin, Meditation and Shamanism. She’ll be sharing her interpretations and fascination with exploring the Chakras and Meridians. She looks forward to exploring this topic further with you.

DAY 1: The Pillars
Here we will establish a foundation of strength, range of motion, and awareness around how our joints work. With FRC® principles around control, resilience and innerstanding tension, we will enhance the prerequisites of our joints to invite more freedom of movement into our lives.

During this day we will explore CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations) PAILs/RAILs (Progressive/Regressive Angular Isometric Load), how to use (in)tension while we move to create stronger and more receptive tissue adaptation, how specific joint focus increases the connection between each joint, and learning how to apply these concepts into our yoga practice.

DAY 2: The Paint
This is where we get creative and free. With strong joints and awareness, we can begin to play with task-based movement, we will dive deep into the fluidity of the spine, and explore (in)tension and how our body responds and reacts to passive vs. active expressions. We will discover the tools that we can apply to our yoga practice and everyday patterns, and learn how to improve our individual physical and mental health through the simplicity of movement.

We will give a lot of focus to how the spine can move in various ways, how control of the spine gives us more control of the rest of our body, how to reduce pain or discomfort, how do discern if it is pain or discomfort (!) and inviting more natural human movements that are essential to our everyday life. We will use several task-based movement concepts such as blocks and tennis balls, exploring partner work to engage the inner child in us, and see how playfulness is always there for us, and that movement doesn’t have to be a chore, but a vast playground for us to always enter when we feel like it.

Learn the ancient art of Qigong for the modern world with Master Qigong Practitioner Peter Caughey. In this course, through the practice of Qigong and utilizing the Ba Duan Jin Qigong system you will learn how to create a calm mind, an open heart and how to have a deeper connection with yourself, others and nature. You will also learn how you can increase your body’s energy levels and stamina.

You will learn how to connect with your own inspiration and intuition and how to discover your true purpose through the practice of Qigong.

The original Zhan zhuang were health methods used by Daoists in recent centuries; martial artists who already had static standing methods combined these with the internal mechanics of Zhan Zhuang to create a superior strength exercises. The goal of Zhan zhuang in martial arts has been to develop a martially capable body structure, but nowadays most practitioners have again returned to a health-preservation orientation in their training, and few teach Zhan Zhuang as a martial method.

The word Zhan zhuang is the modern term; it was coined by Wang Xiang zhai. Wang, a student of Xing Yi Quan, created a method of Kung Fu-based entirely upon Zhan zhuang, known as Yi quan, "Intent Fist." Yi quan's method of study is Zhan zhuang plus movements that continue the feeling of the Standing Post in action.

The most common Zhan Zhuang method is known as Hún Yuán "Completely Round," "Round Smoothness") or Ch?ng Bào, "The Tree Hugging" stance). This posture is entirely Daoist in its origins, it has many variations, and is the main training posture in all branches of Yiquan. This practice has recently also become common practice in Taiji and Qigong schools. In Xing Yi Quan, the practice of S?n T? Shì (??? / ?, Heaven, Earth, and Man) has been a root practice for centuries.

This module will mostly focus on the Stomach & Spleen and Liver & Gall Bladder Meridians in relation to Yin Yoga. Course content will explore post-natal chi and how to take up residence in our human bodies, hence the title, Coming Home.
