Dr M. McLoughlin Tai Chi School
Dr Michael McLoughlin has been practising Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture for the past twenty years and specializes in acupuncture treatment. Moxibustion and Tui Na treatments are also available when necessary. He studied in a master-student relationship with Dr.Lin Feng-Chao since 1992 as a Closed Door Disciple and they still work together doing research. He has worked at the Cape Town Drug Rehabilitation Centre for 16 and in others such as Crescent Clinic and Tabankulu. Dr. McLoughlin has treated thousands of people from all over the world and from all walks of life, both rich and poor.
He ran a non-profit clinic at Imazanu Yetu in Hout Bay for two years and worked at weekends in most of the disadvantaged areas of the Western Cape for many years giving free clinics. Dr McLoughlin has a private practice in Kenilworth, Cape Town. He is also an instructor of Chinese Martial Arts such as Tai Chi Chuan, Hsing I Chuan, Ba Gua Zhang, Chi Kung, Shaolin Gung Fu. Group classes are held in Rondebosch, Cape Town.

Our studio is right in the heart of De Waterkant, right next to the Old Cape Quarter. There is a lot of street parking, and if you do not get lucky on the street, there are 1000 parking spots under the Cape Quarter. Our studio is right on Waterkant Street, opposite Manhattan Cafe. We have two yoga rooms and a menâ€™s and a ladyâ€™s bathroom each with several showers, so you can take a shower and get ready after class. We also have lockers for you to lock your stuff up in when you are in class â€“ please bring you own lock. We also have towels and mats for rent as well as clothes and mats for sale in our reception area. The studio opens 30 minutes before class and closes 30 minutes after class, so please help us be respectful of each others time.

Crystal, our Lead Instructor, obtained her teaching qualifications at the Body Arts and Science International headquarters in Southern California. Having trained under some of the most well respected names in the industry, including the BASI founder himself, Rael Isacowitz.
The goal in building the Flex Pilates environment was always about having a beautiful, welcoming space. Welcome to CityROCK Cape Town! Indoor climbing is a fun way of exercising in a safe and vibrant environment. Climbing is not about sitting on a treadmill for what feels like hours â€“ each climb is different and will challenge you every time both physically and mentally. Our climbing facilities include a large bouldering area (bouldering is climbing 3-4m high without a rope) and high walls for roped climbing. We cater to many different audiences â€“ from first-time kids to experienced outdoor climbers, and everyone in between. CityROCK is more than just a climbing gym, it is where like-minded people meet and share their passion for climbing. Our coffee shop area has a relaxed vibe and is the ideal place to meet friends, climbing partners and make plans for your next trip. Free Wi-Fi makes it a great spot to interact through your social media network, while having coffee, chatting, or browsing through climbing magazines and route guides. Yoga and climbing are very synergistic. Climbing requires core strength, balance, breathing and focus and mental discipline â€“ all skills that Yoga helps with tremendously, which is why so many climbers do Yoga. Beginners and non-climbers are very welcome at all our classes. IndiPamâ€™s Yoga House established in September 2013 is a sanctuary for health and healing offering anyone seeking balance a peaceful and comfortable environment to meet, meditate or to just be with self. Pamelaâ€™s ideals in Karma Yoga form the foundation of her teaching as she aims to inspire western yogis to include Karma Yoga in their daily practice.
Based on ideas and philosophies experienced during her time in, Pamela aims to create an open home for yoga practice encompassing philosophy and other aspects of yoga in refreshing natural surroundings conducive to spiritual instruction and meditation. Furthermore a sharing environment, much like the current ashrams in which offer solitude, tranquility and upliftment. Ashrams have been a powerful symbol throughout Hindu history and theology, likewise there are also Christian monasteries in that are called ashrams and are run by the Nasrani Oriental Orthodox churches. Sometimes, the goal of a pilgrimage to the ashram was not tranquility, but instruction in some art, especially warfare. Believing that positive action, however small, can cause ripple effects in a life or a community, and the use of divine weapons, if or when the time comes for personal protection and healing. Pamela hopes to inspire anyone in their search for knowledge, both intellectual and spiritual to seek out such places within their communities and propagate them.
Renee Watson Pilates
Renee Watson began her Pilates training in 1990 while dancing in Vancouver, Canada. Renee has a strong background in health including American Council of Exercise (ACE) Personal Trainer and a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from the University of British Columbia, Canada.
After moving to Cape Town in 1997, Renee Watson completed her Pilates qualification with Body Technology. Renee subsequently studied further with Dianne Miller in Vancouver, Rael Isacowitz in California and in Toronto with Stott Pilates. In 2004, Renee qualified with Body Arts & Science International and completed Dance Conditioning at Cal State University, Long Beach. She also completed her Injuries and Special Populations training with Stott Pilates in 2004.
In 2007, Renee qualified as a GYROKINESISÂ® instructor and also attended the GYROTONICÂ® course. Renee Watson Pilates Method AllianceÂ® Certified Pilates Trainer and her Conscious Movement Education Pilates Certificate Courses are listed on the PMAÂ® Registry of Schools. Renee is a founding member of South African Pilates Educators and Professionals Alliance (SAPEPA)

Source Yoga: (75min) This class offers an integrated approach to yoga and is open to all levels of practitioners. Classes begin with centering the body and mind, followed by a gentle warm up, static and dynamic asana (yoga postures), pranayama (yogic breathing techniques, and finally yoga nidra (deep conscious relaxation). Without interrupting the flow of the class, information is given to help you develop your asana practice, focusing on correct technique, as well as educating the practitioner on yoga philosophy. No matter where you are in your physical or mental practice, there is a space available for you. For these 60 minutes all you need to bring is your only your body, your mind and your breath.
Ashtanga Yoga: (1hr) Ashtanga, which means â€œeight limbsâ€ in Sanskrit, is a fast-paced, intense style of yoga. A set series of poses is performed, always in the same order. This practice is very physically demanding because of the constant movement from one pose to the next and the emphasis on daily practice. This class is an introduction to the Primary Series. The intention for this practice is to enable practitioners to develop their own self-practice.
Gentle Yoga: This Vinyasa-based class seeks to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation while using props. Some of the poses are held for a longer time in order to release and to deepen the practice. While some of the poses are beneficial to the entire body, others target specific parts of the body, such as the heart or the lungs.

Renee Watson Pilates Team has established a highly-regarded reputation by offering attentive group class, tailor-made private sessions, and a focus on rehabilitation.Pilates is a unique system of movement that was developed by Joseph H. Pilates (read more about the man himself below). The Pilates Method is accessible to everyone and includes both mat and equipment repertoire. The mat work provides a strong foundation and focuses on stability of the joints while developing strength and flexibility of the muscles. The mat work leads on to equipment work such as the reformer, cadillac, chair and barrels. The equipment provides a challenge by creating an unstable or dynamic environment for the body. The mat and the equipment each accommodate fitness levels to work the client appropriately, whether they are dancers, athletes, older persons needing to move, pregnant women, or clients needing specific rehabilitation for back injuries, shoulders, knee replacements, post-surgery, etc.
