Amal Villa Ayurvedic and Spa Center

We recommend using the Ayurveda Spa adjoining Amal Villa. We took a 3 day package and thoroughly enjoyed the range of treatments explored. We are indebted to Sajith and Chandani who gave amazing service, by trying to solve our aches and pains through a variety of massages. We were intrigued by the diagnosis given by the resident doctor, who would oversee our treatments each day. The spa is simply furnished, but has every facility needed and we recommend it, as it added to the relaxation of our holiday at Amal Villa.

Spent 25 days at Amal Villa and made full use of the spa. My wife had a head and shoulder massage from Nalakah, which she enjoyed. I had 3 Yoga lessons from Dr Nalakah (different person) which were great. I had several massages from Sajith and my wife had 2 from him. I have had massages in various locations across the Far East and he is by far the best I have experienced. I knew I had had a massage whilst feeling relaxed at the same time. I would highly recommend him. There are also young lady masseurs and whilst we did not use them I understand from another customer that they were good. I have reviewed this spa before but the staff have all changed since then and in my view for the better.

Decided to go to Amal Ayurvedic centre , Bentota based on the rating by trip advisor and were so glad that we did . Managed to get the reservation done just half hour before with just a phone call . The doctor examined our wrist and was able to tell us 80-90% of our health issues / injuries etc correctly without us mentioning them which really astounded us . We were assigned to individual therapist after the doctor had instructed them and we were given treatment for 2 hours . Both the therapist were wonderful and very hard working . Came back absolutely relaxed and refreshed . Would definitely recommend Amal Ayurveda Spa centre .

I want to emphasize that my experience with Amal Villa Ayurvedic Center is quite limited. I only took eight procedures of steam bath with them in Dec 2017 - Jan 2018. I was looking for a certain type and design of the steam bath chamber and I found it in Amal Villa. Most chambers in this area are net- or bars-patterned. The chamber in Amal has round holes. I think, it is important for those who know what steam bath is. I was shown the hotel itself, the rooms, the inner garden. I liked the hotel. The rooms are new, modern, clean, pleasant. The shower/toilet rooms are new, modern, clean which is important for me. The garden is very pleasant. Everything is well-designed, well-decorated. This is a pleasant place, quiet and with fresh air despite proximity to the Colombo-Galle road. The garden is somewhat remote from the road. However, these are just surface quick impressions. I did not live in the hotel itself. The Center is supervised, I far as I understand, by the guy named Hector. He is quite pushy just like any one working in the Ayurveda or tourism sector in Sri Lanka. But, in all other aspects, he seems to be a decent nice guy. You are offered tea before and after the procedures. I have not seen many mosquitoes as other reviews depict it. The steam bath procedure costs 2 700 rupees each (about US$17-18). It's 20 minutes long, but they always allowed me to stay for 30 minutes or as long as I could stand the heat of the chamber. This is one of the best steam bathes I have ever tried. The impressions from this one procedure are quite good. Probably, I will come here in the future. Caution: the elderly people and people with heart conditions should be probably careful about this steam bath procedure.

My husband and I booked the 3 day spa package. I would thoroughly recommend it as being a great way to end 11 days of touring. The staff were very professional, the cabins were clean and the centre is set within the grounds of Amal villa, which is a beautiful location.
