Common Ground is a wellness studio located in downtown Charlottesville. Our space includes a fully equipped yoga studio and meditation space, a community acupuncture clinic, and private room for massage. By sharing space, our practitioners connect and collaborate in serving clients who seek to integrate multiple healing modalities. Common Ground is a hub for healing in the Charlottesville community.
Since January 2010, Common Ground’s outreach programs have been bringing the healing arts directly to community members who may be unable to access them otherwise. Through a generous grant provided by the Bama Works Fund of the Dave Matthews Band as well as hundreds of volunteer hours donated by local healing arts practitioners, Common Ground is able to offer a variety of free wellness services to underserved populations.
Our outreach practitioners partner with local service providers to reach low-income adults, people with limited English proficiency, the elderly, incarcerated women, minorities, and other special populations. Current outreach offerings include:

Common Ground offers yoga, meditation, massage, community acupuncture, mindfulness based counseling, and a variety of wonderful workshops. We welcome all members of our community to enjoy our offerings at an affordable rate by using a sliding scale based on income. IMPORTANT NOTE: When arriving for your first class or appointment (Yoga, Meditation, Massage or Acupuncture), it is essential to arrive at least 15 minutes early in order to have time to fill out the necessary paperwork. This will ensure that you can begin your appointment or class on time.
Common Ground is partnering with the Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville, and Asha Greer for our current meditation scheduling and programming. The yoga and meditation schedules can be looked at together from here.Lunch Hour Meditation at Common Ground is led by rotating IMCC teachers. Join us for guided insight and heart meditations, with time for questions and discussion. These sitting periods are open to all levels of meditators including those new to practice. Advance registration is not required and you may drop in at any time. There is no fee. Donations are welcome, appreciated, and benefit both Common Ground and IMCC.
Asha Greer and rotating guests host Friday evening meditations from 6:30-7:30pm. Drop-ins very welcome.These Friday evening meditations are an opportunity for you to embrace doing nothing. That’s right: nothing. With so much going on in our world and our lives, this is a chance to feel ok and at peace with *just* being present.
Asha will give brief instructions, and then the meditation will begin. Please come early. These classes are offered by donation, and your generosity is greatly appreciated.
All massages at Common Ground are one hour long and are provided by licensed and experienced Charlottesville massage therapists. When receiving massage for the first time at Common Ground, please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out a massage intake form.Please call us at 434-218-7677 with any questions or to schedule a massage. A full-paying one hour massage costs $70, and a sliding scale based on income is available from here. Please give us a call with any questions about the sliding scale (434-218-7677).You can save on massages by purchasing a massage wellness package. You will have the opportunity to book your sessions with the Massage Therapist of your choice once you have purchased this package (you may also book appointments with different Massage Therapists, there is no need or expectation that you stick with one Massage Therapist). The 12 massages within this package can be used over a 12-month period or you can use them however you like (as long as you use them within 12 months).
