We serve clients with very diverse physical conditions, from the extremely fit to those needing deeper healing, specialty practice, or recovering from injury. We can work with your skills. We keep the classes warm!
The non-humid studio’s temperature is set at 80 degrees to 108 degrees depending upon the class being taught. Why heat the room? Upon starting a yoga practice learning the alignment of the postures is vitally important.
One of the yogic breaths commonly used in practice is very important for helping the internal heat factor. The breath throughout the practice is made to keep not only your mind more still, the breath helps warm your muscles and relax nerves to prevent injury. So, we heat the room, non-humid, so one can safely learn the postures and the breath will come with practice. Therefore we take attention to higher or lower heat depending on the practice of the students in each class.
The bonus for a heated room means you get more flexibility out of your muscles while reducing the risk of injuries. It also means you sweat a lot and feel great cycling the water out of your body. In the hot room, you’ll get deeper into poses than you thought you could while quickly building muscle strength and definition.
All of our classes are slightly different, depending on the instructor and the goal of the class. A Yin Yoga class has a much slower tempo than an Ashtanga class; some classes focus on “vinyasa†yoga, with flow between poses, while others focus on balance and breathing. Over time, our classes change to the interests of the studio community or what is needed to help ones practice grow , create healing, and give better understanding to the practice of yoga. Our Ashtanga Mysore classes are only heated at 80 degrees because of the internal heat factor . Also the Beginner’s yoga classes are only heated at 75 degrees.
