An Ayurvedic Yoga Seasonal Sadhana
Our modern day fast –paced lives are filled with stress and chaos. If you feel like it is time to slow down and bring balance to your over stimulated nervous system, then this class is for you! In the winter season, the elemental changes in nature also affect our bodies, minds and lifestyles. With an understanding of the elements from an ayurvedic perspective, and the effects they have on us, we can establish a practice (Sadhana) designed to help us live in harmony with nature. Ayurveda, the science of life is an all-encompassing way of living to help people stay vibrant and healthy while realizing their full human potential. Each class will combine specific postures (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama), sound (mantra) and meditation, to create a warm, grounding, and nourishing practice designed to work with the rhythms of nature to bring you back into balance. In addition, specific daily routine (dinacharya) practices will be offered based on the principles of Ayurveda. Begin this year with self-care and watch your potential flourish!

ANITA THOMSON
Introduced to Yoga in my early twenties, I was attracted to the relief and connectedness I experienced at the end of each class.Over time, and through life’s changes and challenges, I was pulled back to Yoga as an essential tool for living. Yoga practice made me feel calmer, stronger, steadier and more capable in every way. Through practice, I had more to give to my family, friends and community.
A dramatic shift in the health of a loved one in 2005 brought the purpose of a committed Yoga practice into perspective for me - I could more easily access gratitude and compassion when I reconnected with the here and now. I began to delve deeper into the benefits of Mindfulness and Meditative work in order to heal my heart and mind.
The challenge of coming back to the breath has most definitely helped me wake up in my own life. The people in our Yoga community are such brave souls and they re-inspire me everyday to get back on my mat and back into my body. Our bodies can and will change as will our attitudes; perhaps we can even greet and welcome change, as we breathe and listen and open.
