Art of Movement, studio voor bewegingstraining, is in 2004 opgericht door Stephanny Turton Kat en beschikt inmiddels over een enthousiast en professioneel team van vier vaste trainers. De studio is gevestigd in een uniek Dudok pand Old School Projects in Hilversum, waar twee voormalige, prachtig lichte klaslokalen de ruimte bieden voor verschillende lesvormen. De aangeboden trainingen zijn gebaseerd op de Pilates-methode en inzichten uit aanverwante methodes. De geschoolde trainers van Art of Movement werken gericht aan klachten aan onder meer rug, nek en schouders, bekken en voeten. Preventie en herstel staan daarbij centraal. Klanten waarderen onze professionele werkwijze en persoonlijke aandacht. Art of Movement organiseert zakelijke en privé retreat naar Ibiza. The heating, flooring and even the water quality have all been carefully selected to comply with our high standards. Sustainability and the environment are also of great importance to Crazy Monkey and played a significant role in the selection process. Crazy Monkey has made available what we believe to be the best of the best to our practitioners. At Crazy Monkey, you shouldn’t expect anything less! We wanted to make our space multi-functional. Not just a place to practice yoga, but a place where people can hang out… literally! With hanging bars, olympic rings, multi-functional wooden blocks and dip stations there is a lot of fun to be had between classes. We also included an all natural, plant-oil based floor that feels great on bare feet and our spacious wooden deck in the backyard is a nice place to relax after class. For students wishing to shower after class we have beautiful men and women’s locker rooms. Showers are stocked with our favorite Dr. Bronner’s (all natural!) liquid soap. HEAT Crazy Monkey uses top of the line therapeutical infrared heating for our yoga classes. This is the cleanest heat possible; both in a hygienic and environmental sense. Unlike conventional systems there is no production of CO2 or noise. The discomforts commonly associated with other heating systems, like dryness of the mouth, eyes and skin are also eliminated. We have the healthiest form of heat possible, simply nothing compares. WATER Quality of water is inextricably linked to one’s health, and not all water is created equal! Crazy Monkey set out to see if we could supply our studio with the world’s best water. With a 10 stage filtration process removing 100% of contaminants, proper remineralisation and a slightly elevated pH, we did just that. We are proud to offer our students free access to quite literally the best water in the world.

Pilates is a versatile approach to fitness and posture which can benefit everyone from the professional consultant to the professional athlete. Pilates was developed nearly 100 years ago by the German athlete and movement education pioneer Joseph Pilates. He drew from gymnastics, yoga, boxing and swimming to create a method he ended up calling Contrology. By the 1930’s, Contrology gained popularity with ballet and modern dancers, who came to Pilates’ studio in New York City to heal from various injuries. They quickly became converts. Since then, the method has evolved with the times, continually incorporating the latest research in human biomechanics, and broadening its scope. The essence of Pilates is its focus on postural muscles of the body, building strength from the inside out. Pilates brings the body into correct alignment and re-educates it about more efficient movement patterns. Furthermore, because Pilates emphasizes lengthening the body in movement with attention to correct form with fewer movement repetitions, muscles become long and lean, rather than short and big.

Vivit Pilates Studio beschikt over twee eigen STOTT Pilates® Rack & Roll reformers, een V2 Max reformer, Ladder Barrel, Arc Barrel, Spine Corrector en de befaamde Chair. Ongeveer 14 jaar geleden leerde ik de bewegingsvorm Pilates kennen. Ik besloot vrij snel daarna, na enkele andere opleidingen, de wereldwijd gerenommeerde STOTT pilates® mat opleiding te volgen. Deze opleiding heb ik ook met succes afgerond. Het examen coverde het gehele mat repertoire voor groeps-, duo- en personal trainingen. Tevens heb ik de STOTT pilates® zwangerschaps workshop gevolgd om deze groep veilig, sportief en plezierig te begeleiden naar hun bevalling. Peyow Aquapilates, de watervariant van STOTT pilates wordt door mij gegeven op Active Health Center Leidschenveen.

Ontspannend, ondersteunend, versterkend, therapeutisch en restorative. Geinspireerd door Alexandertechniek, op basis van meer dan 30 jaar ervaring met yoga, Pilates en meditatie. Pilates, net als yoga, is een “mind&body workout”. Het is ook in deze lessen de bedoeling dat je steeds meer leert luisteren naar je eigen lichaam, je eigen “innerlijke wijsheid”. Je wordt uitgenodigd een frisse blik te werpen op de manier waarop jij in je dagelijks leven met je lichaam omgaat en hoe je met je eigen kracht omgaat. En wat is kracht eigenlijk? Waar haal je het vandaan? Natuurlijk doen we buikspieroefeningen in de les, maar “corestrength” bevindt zich niet alleen in de buik maar in het hele lichaam. Deze benadering van Pilates, net als de benadering van yoga, gaat ervanuit dat het lichaam heel goed zelf weet waar het de stabiliteit vandaan kan halen. Mits we de juiste voorwaarden scheppen. Deze les is een uitstekende aanvulling op de yoga én Pilates lessen en is bedoeld om meer inzicht te krijgen in de manier waarop je zit, ademhaalt en je lichaam gebruikt. Het is een hele goede les voor mensen die op zoek zijn naar rust en stilte. Oberveer, wees stil en leer van de stilte om inzicht te krijgen in de manier waarop je omgaat met jezelf en met je lichaam, Ook hier weer de nadruk op awareness, en het (h)erkennen en loslaten van gewoontes. We zullen beginnen met Yin yoga om ons bewust te worden van heupen en onderrug. Ook zullen we minstens 20 minuten zitten.

Wat is Pilates? Pilates, ontwikkeld door Joseph Pilates, is een oefenmethode voor het gehele lichaam. De samenhang tussen kracht, souplesse en controle staat hierin centraal. Ook een diepe zuiverende ademhaling is een belangrijke factor in Pilates. De training is gericht op het activeren en trainen van het ""powerhouse"". Het “powerhouse” wordt gevormd door de diepliggende buikspieren, de bekkenbodemspieren en de stabiliserende rugspieren rondom de wervelkolom. Door het trainen van het ""powerhouse"" krijgen de wervelkolom en het bekken een goede stabiliteit, waardoor het lichaam een meer gestroomlijnd uiterlijk krijgt. Het maakt daarnaast de spieren strakker, langer en mooier en houdt de wervelkolom soepel, waardoor rug- en nekklachten verdwijnen en de houding wordt verbeterd. De oefeningen worden op een matje uitgevoerd en zijn op een vloeiende manier aaneengeschakeld, waardoor de energie door uw lichaam stroomt. Hierbij wisselen inspanning en ontspanning elkaar af en is uw lichaam uiteindelijk helemaal in balans. Pilates is geschikt voor iedereen, zelfs als u een lichamelijke handicap of beperking heeft.
