Brahmani has gained an international reputation for excellence in training yoga teachers. We have been running 200, 350 and 500 hour yoga teacher training programmes from level 1 and level 2, since 2004. All of our courses are intensive, staffed by several senior teachers and always have a small group of participants to ensure individual attention.
The Brahmani philosophy is about ensuring great quality in training. We don’t want students to graduate just being “ok†teachers, we encourage practitioners to excel and dive deeper into their understanding - not only of their yoga practice but what it really means to share this journey with others. The path of a yoga teacher is more challenging than it appears from the outside and we guide students with care offering tools for growth in all areas of yoga. We give a great deal of attention to communication skills, practical work in real classroom environments and plenty of opportunity and space to explore and enquire throughout the process. Julie Martin, Director of Brahmani Yoga is an internationally recognized teacher of Vinyasa Flow. She has been teaching for over 20 years and running highly respected yoga teacher training programmes since 2004. A former professional dancer, Julie imbues her classes with grace and fluidity, and the process of discovery guided by the continual emergence of anatomical information applied to this modern asana practice. The questions are always: “How does it feel to be in this body now?†and “How can I be in this experience without risking injury?†Through encouraging play, curiosity and awareness, each class becomes a journey through body and mind, fusing the qualities of traditional yoga with personal discovery and self expression. Julie’s aim is to guide students towards awareness and inspire presence, to find freedom in movement, and move towards stillness, to our true practice, our true selves.
In our teacher trainings we invite you to embrace a new way of thinking, practicing and teaching. Through a daily immersion into the depths of Movement, Philosophy, Pranayama and Meditation, Anatomy, Chanting, Sacred Dance and more you will unfold as a practitioner, a teacher, and a yogi. This training is all about practicing and teaching an embodied yoga practice. The call is to move away from a shape based practice and from the gymnastics that is often on offer. The world of yoga is evolving and in the 25 years that Julie has been practicing and teaching she has seen so much change that it's easy to become confused by "What is yoga now?" and "what isn't yoga?" . ? The fact is, Yoga is a practice that has been evolving for thousands of years and it continues to evolve! We need to keep in mind that we are not looking for a 'right' or wrong way. As true practitioners we remain curious to the process, not only in what we are learning but also in what we are experiencing within ourselves. We are looking for freedom in movement, to explore beyond previous boundaries and translate that into useful teaching tools. By embracing this philosophy we can have a practice that is true to ourselves. An embodied, modern yoga practice that moves from the inside out - not the outside. in. Bringing the practice back to the essence of what is important for us as beings, using movement that allows us to explore without the dogma that intimidates. ? Cultivating a somatic embodied practice that is constantly unfolding and enriched with personal growth. Your practice will be different every day! We can nurture our ability to expand beyond the asana, off the mat and live our practice.
