I am actually not sure I can accurately describe how wonderful this place is. Think of all possible superlative praise, it will fit the Amanpuri. The location is great. The resort sprawls over a few wooded hills overlooking the shining Andaman Sea. The bay where the lobby, the main pool and the restaurants are located has probably the best beach on Phuket. With its soft sand, palm trees and giant rounded holders it reminded me of the Seychelles. The light Thai architecture of the pool area, with its wooden pavilions and swooping roofs transports you into an exotic Asian dreamland. Our villa, we got upgraded to a private compound, was just indescribable. We had over a 1000 sqm meters to ourselves, with a big pool, a dining pavilion, a pavilion for drinks and entertainment, our own house with the bedroom and the lavish bath. From the bed you could look into the garden off swaying coconut palms and the sea below. There were an additional gazillion other bedrooms placed through out the tropical gardenscapre. Better then all that though was our cook, Kh. Dang and our housekeeper, Kh. Rose. We would have liked to hire them straight away to be with us everyday of our lives. Both of them turn service into an art form. Kh. Dang's cooking was delicious and beautifully presented and Kh. Rose knew better what we needed then we did ourselves. In the evening they lit up the pool terrace with candles - and every evening the lighting scheme was a bit different. My cloth have never been so beautifully folded and never have I been greeted so graciously in the morning. Thank you both of you. We love the shop at the resort and the kind and funny Philippine lady who works there. We enjoyed the beautiful gym, which offers ocean views while you sweat on the treadmill. Go the bar for a sunset drink. Kh. Golf is gifted mixologist. His dirty Martinis are spot on. Because I liked them so much, he created a little gift bag for me, the day we left. It included all the ingredients to make my own dirty Martini, Golf-style at home. Such a thoughtful and wonderful thing to do. The staff at the restaurants were great as well. We had some good laughs with Joy and Luck. Thank you to the Italian chef Lucca too for the great white truffle lunch on our last day there. I will review the Italian restaurant and Lucca's cooking separately. They deserve it. Overall we had a magnificent experience. I have nothing at all I did not love. We felt at home, surrounded by wonderful, kind, funny and helpful people who were all trying to make our days as memorable as possible. Kopkhunmaaaaak krap!
