Reviews Of Association For Yoga And Meditation Center
AYM yoga school ... What can I say. I have spent 10 weeks completing my 500 hour teacher training course here and it has been one of the best experiences. The school is like a family where you feel welcome from day one. The yoga teachers are both a mixture of experienced yogis to new each one playing a valuable part in the course syllabus. From meditation, Astanga, Hatha, philosophy, yoga therapy, anatomy, physiology, Ayurvedic medicine... Your understanding of what Yoga is will deepen beyond what you could ever think. The accommodation is clean, complete and peaceful. The school is set far enough away from busy luxman jhulla so the natural sounds of the stream , cows, crickets etc are your only disturbance. Yet close enough to enjoy the widest shopping options available during your free time. 3 meals a day, masala tea and friendly staff ... You won't starve. Initially when looking for a yoga school here in Rishikesh I was drawn to the more advertised, reviewed places and was aiming to go to anther school. However I believe that option fell through because it wasn't meant to be and somehow I found this school. AYM school, Mahesh and his family I can't thank enough, what they have taught me is priceless. I have grown as a person, appreciating that happiness is beyond what you have/want, I have lived 10 weeks with a smile on my face surrounded by people with such strong auras and kind hearts. The people I have met both in India and around the world will remain in my heart, with such strong friendships formed. I think it's hard to choice a school when there is soo many to choose from here in Rishikesh. And I am unable to comment on others. What I can say is that if you end up in AYM yoga school then that choice maybe was not a choice .. It was meant to be :)
This is a wonderful school, which supports creativity and is super welcoming. Yogi Chetan Mahesh has designed and is delivering a very well round program, which will transform you and will allow you to experience it as a strong foundation or much more in depth understanding. It was so for me, I came to the school in 2013 for a 200hrs TTC and stayed few months more at the ashram, to deepen and integrate all my knowledge and skills, I have gained from the initial course.
I did my 200 hr ttc in January and then returned a few months later for my 300hr. The school is in a great location, quiet and away from the craziness of laxman jhula. Yogi Mahesh and his family are very welcoming and kind. It was a really great experience and highly recommend AYM.
The best yoga school in Rishikesh for Yoga teachers training (AYM)...Association for yoga and meditation.
I am lucky that I chose AYM Teachers Training School Rishikesh, wonderful location very able, understanding professional teachers & good food when I came to the shool I was not sure if I could manage the training because of my age (62) and untrained body ,but they did a wonderfull job on me now I can do nearly all the poses,I can say that I am literally changed for the better.I am Thankfull
The students, teachers, and location make AYM a great school for doing your 200 hour yoga teacher training. Our group of 25 students were a very eclectic group ranging from age 19 to 62. They came from more than 10 different countries, and had had a varied level of yoga experience before joining. Most of all, they were all passionate and curious about yoga and were full of love, support, and joy for each other. Our two yoga asana teachers were amazing. They were knowledgeable, patient and light-hearted. Starting each day with an Ashtanga Vinyasa practice quickly built up our strength, stamina, and familiarity with the poses. Later in the day, our awesome Hatha teacher took us slowly through different positions giving us individual attention. We focused on correct alignment and how to assist students. These practical classes were supported by theory classes on anatomy and physiology of asanas giving us a greater understanding of how our bodies work. Yoga philosophy, meditation and pranayama practice and theory classes gave us a holistic approach to yoga as a lifestyle choice. AYM is perfectly located on the outskirts of Rishikesh, the yoga capital of the world. It is near enough to town for convenience, but far enough away for peace and quiet. Up a hill, surrounded by mountains, I cannot think of a nicer place to practice yoga. The huge yoga hall, the rooftop, and even the bedrooms provide stunning views of trees, mountains, and country life. Studying at AYM was a life-changing experience – the support of the students, teachers, and staff made it feel like one big family beginning our yoga teaching journey together.
I have done 200 hrs yoga ttc from A.Y.M yoga school rishikesh.I regard myself so fortunate to visit A.Y.M to learn yoga course.I met very good yoga teachers their one of them Mahesh yogi very intellect human know minor to major about yoga. They treat everybody similar. Food is so delicious, weekend trips i am gonna miss weekend trips lot.... keep sharing yoga wisdom A.Y.M
Well, its time to leave this magical place. I came here from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico( literally the other side of the world) with no experience ever, never had done yoga, Me and 4 girlfriends decided that there was no better place to and learn about yoga than at the foothills of the Himalayas....right? ABSOLUTELY! All the teachers are amazing, at work at every levels...I’m bending ways i never thought possible, but its absolutely more of a workout for your mind and soul. I’m leaving a better me, and for that i thank AYM and beautiful India. NAMASTE
I really enjoyed yoga classes - hatha yoga with alignment , ashtanga vinyasa and other classes like anatomy of yoga and philosophy. there were diffferent real expert teachers of every subject. food is ok and place is peaceful as compaired to other centers in rishikesh.
Hi everyone, I'd like to tell you that i've been looking for a school for a long time before deciding to have my teacher training course with AYM. Now finishing the course I can tell that I had an amazing experience in this ashram, the people staff its so kind, food its great, rooms, very nice and beautiful views to the mountains, relaxing water sound coming from the mountains, etc... I can say i made good friends, the people and place energy in general would make you feel in an unforgettable place, that you would always keep in your heart! =)
A fab location with mountain views from the yoga hall. I met lovely people with learnt a lot about my personal yoga practice... it has been an important part of my yoga journey!
I've done 200hours TTC with AYM. I met great teachers and nice people from all over the world!! Nice and quiet location!! great food!!
hello everybody, its been great month of practice in AYM, people are lovely, the food is great, and the mountains view is breath taking, i will definitely come back for the 300 hours.
Great location ... Good teachers !! You will learn so much about the Indian culture! And get your yoga teacher training .. Ashtanga yoga !!!
Excellent school, recommend it for the 200hr YTT. Safe, happy, great location
I did my 200 hours from AYM, it was a very great experience, actually like a home away from home, the staff was so friendly and warm, food was good and the yoga part was a mind blowing experience, the location of the school is very good, accommodation clean and comfortable and all our fellow mates were great we were like a small knit family, will definitely come back, thank you , Namaste
I fully recommend this school. The course is pretty intense, I learned a lot. The place is located Upper Tappovon, which is very quiet, clean, and beautiful. The price of course is so reasonable.
This truly is an amazing school. Everyone was satisfied and received exactly what they were looking for out of the course. The physical practice pushed our bodies very firmly, yet exercised with great caution to ensure safe and healthy practice. With ease, they opened my mind, body and soul to new beginning!!
Wonderful place to study Yoga - school on a hill, yoga hall with a view on mountains, roof with an open space and a small yoga hall on it, clean rooms and kitchen, nice people and interesting teachers, intense schedule. Rishikesh is peaceful, the Ganges is magic. Had an unforgettable experience here! Namaste
I did my teacher training here from Oct 15 to Nov 12th of 2015. We were a group of 25 student from all over the world. We studied Astanga Vinyasa, Hatha, philosophy, Anatomy and Physiology, Pranamaya and meditation. Our teachers were very warm, patient, and well versed in their subject that they were teaching. It has been a very life transforming experience not just physically but at mental and emotional level too. I am very grateful for this gift to me in my life.
was here to take part in 200 hours Yoga Teacher Training. It was such an unforgettable experience. I have enjoyed every single day I spent here. The teachers were great and Guru Mhesh is such a great Guru, we have learned a lot from him and from other teachers as well. Apart from the whole curriculum and great teachers, AYM provide nice , clean and very comfortable accommodation. Overall AYM is such a great place, great location, great staff and great food worth the money! I would definitely come back! Thank you AYM..Namaste.
My Fiance and I have just completed our 200hr TTC at the AYM Yoga School- We have to say we feel so grateful and blessed to have found this school, it was an amazing experience and more than what we wished for. The course is great- it isn't forced upon you which teaches you to exercise your own self discipline (part of the yogic practice) and the staff are amazing... the teachers are so knowledgeable, they are kind, they are caring and they make the experience so genuine. We have never been to Rishikesh or India before and staying at this school made the trip and we definitely want to return to the same school for our 300 hour course. The only thing we would say to be aware of is nothing to do with the school- it is just some of the students! As there are people here from all of the world, mostly Western, it is easy to fall in to western patterns in terms of attitude and expectations! Remember that you are in India, accept it, embrace it, love it! Celebrate every day here. Don't get caught up in any negative attitudes that can go on behind the scenes!! Work to live the yogic practices. Be kind, be grateful and be positive. If you are looking for a yoga school, the AYM yoga school is 100% recommended by us for all of the courses that they offer!
Namaste
hello, my experience at AYM has been an amazing journey. I have learnt so much about Yoga and what it means to live as a yogi. The teachers here have been fantastic, the food is so delicious and healthy, using seasonal fresh produce. The location of the school is perfect, up in the hills, it is beautiful and very peaceful and a short walk away from the centre of town and the Ganges. I will definitely return to this school to do the 300 hour course, hopefully with other members of our group. I definitely recommend AYM, Namaste
I have just completed the 200hr course here at AYM. This course was exactly what I needed. We went back to the basics of yoga. This course was filled with all ages and abilities which allowed us to experience all different levels of students. Guru Ji has a great sense of humour and vast knowledge. His enthusiasm for krias is amazing. Working under Guru Ji's guidance is several wonderful teachers. Jaya won over many hearts, coming on really strong and showing us his passion about alignment along with his softer side. Menisha kept us all going through the never ending Astanga classes. The whole classes learned that we really need to listen to our bodies, letting it rest, and just watching a class when needed. The staff are all very wonderful people, they make you feel at home. We had several nights of dancing and chanting kirtan, as well as trip out into the mountains and a dip into the magical ganges river. This has been a great stop on my journey through life. Namaste!
I highly recommend the AYM school. First able location is perfect ,if you are looking for being in contact with nature and in the same time not too far from shops and cafes. Accommodation and food also very good. Rooms are good side, with hot water and nice balcony, bed is also comfortable. They have a open kitchen and they cook fresh food everyday, tasty and good quantity!! Teachers are very good, friendly and good knowledge, so in general this is a very nice place to have your yoga experience! You also can enjoy of a very good massage or a another ayurvedic treatment in the same building! shanti shanti om! Namaste!!
We had 4 wonderful weeks in the yoga teacher training here. A very nice place with very nice and charming people. We learned a lot. But the last word of mashesh today was: now, it isn't the end, it's the beginning. With this emotional feeling I go back to germany. Thank you for the wonderful time.
i attended a Teacher training course 200 hrs in AYM Yoga school and I found the course very interesting, well structured compared schedules and quality of teaching. All teachers was been very practical and always have explained very well the study topics and gave us great suggestions. A Special thanks to Yogi Mahesh and our teacher of Iyengar style yoga Jaya. I highly recommend this course. Ilaria from Italy.
AYM school is very good place for learning yoga, not too big place so we could touch and communicate teachers easily. The location is little bit far from main road, but it's good for concentrate learning yoga and meditating. And all students are friendly and warmly, i had very great time with them : )
I am about to finish the 200hr teacher training here at AYM. It has been a really great experience. The school is clean, the practice hall big with windows that look out to mountains, a great way to start the day. The food is so delicious, healthy and varied. The location is in a residential, rural area a short walk to Rishikesh Town. You really get a feel of day to day Indian life plus you can walk into the mountains for some nature and waterfalls. The Yoga style taught is both Ashtanga Vinyasa primary series and Hatha/Iyengar yoga. Our class had 26 students which I felt was too large, it didn't hinder my learning but was distracting at times with talking, fidgeting and eating. The course was broken down into anatomy, meditation, kriyas, mantras, philosophy, asanas and teaching practice. The structure and pace of the course was good and the teachers enthusiastic and knowledgeable. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Mahesh the director of the school is passionate about the practice and its many aspects. There is also an Ayurvedic treatment center on site so you can get a massage treatment as often as you want.
nice place, friendly stuff and great teaches, i really enjoy my 200 hour course here in AYM Rishikesh. Thanks you very much AYM
Empezar por este camino del Yoga, sin duda fue una de las mejores decisiones de mi vida! Estoy totalmente agradecida por todo lo aprendido, vivido y experimentado en AYM School. Siempre los llevare en el corazón! Amo Yoga, Amo India, Amo Rishikesh.
After trying and visiting few ashrams I chose AYM yoga school because i feel energy is very good to learn yoga. All teachers are knowledgeable and learning with them is easy. the place is near mountain away from noise of city and i can concentrate in study.
Excellent Yoga Education! Kaivalya Yoga School is a world recognized school for various yoga courses. I learnt hatha yoga teacher training course, a complete yoga program. I got a lot of things to learn here. I got a lot of knowledge and experience about this course. I would like to recommend it to anyone looking for hatha yoga course.
Just finished the 200 hour yoga teacher training course, it's an awesome well rounded course covering many subjects, they pack a lot of learning into one month! Incredible location, inspiring teacher and great value for money, I will definitely coming back for the 300 hour advanced course!
Thank you AYM Yoga School for everything I learnt here ! I really recommend this place :) Yoga is excellence !
The are no words to describe how grateful I am for being part of the AYM family. The knowledge teachers have given is invaluable. I just finished my YTT 200 and planning to come back at some point. Namaste
Not what I expected. Too many changes in the schedule, too many times. And there were disturbing renovations going on in the building. Also half of the hatha yoga classes were changed to another teacher that teached iyengar style....! (Not what I paid for) so he could focus more on the renovations I guess? Accommodation was not good, no place to put luggage exept floor. And also some other small things, that took away my respect for this place. It somehow feels that it had been a very good place with good intentions once but has changed more to a buisness and lost its soul.
I completed my 500 hour teacher training at AYM this year. The facility exceeded my expectations. The accommodation was more than comfortable, food was clean and enjoyable and classes were of the highest calibre in yoga training. The teachers are so passionate and dedicated to their students. I will miss my AYM fam <3
Hi all, If you are reading this its because you are thinking or doing yoga at AYM! From my experience I can tell you I had an amazing experience here. The rooms are clean, spacious with high ceilings, big patio doors with great balcony bringing in lotssss of sunlight, amazing beds (I slept like a baby every single night!), you get your private hot water tank too! When it comes to food, we always had an amazing buffet and you can eat as much as you want. Delicious Indian meals, lentils, rice, fresh and homemade chapatis, salad and filtered water! The view is breathtaking, we are surrounded by mountains and we enjoyed watching the sun rising from in between the two mountains we face from yoga hall every single mornings (except Sundays as its our off day hihihi). Staff is more than patient, assisting with every single of our request in a sweet and calm manner. Teachers are incredibly knowledgeable, i LOVED the philosophy teacher!!!!!!!!! You learn how yoga affects your whole lifestyle! I can recommend you this school 120%! Peace - Love - Vegan Zeinab

Thank you very much to great teachers and wonderful staff for making the experience of 200-hours YTTC unforgettable. With our graduation ceremony nothing ends, it only begins. Thank you for showing directions where to move forward.
I had an amazing experience here. All my expectations from the staff, food, accommodation, teachers knowledge and professionalism was surpassed! Definitely worth the trip out!
Overall I have very much enjoyed my time at AYM. The sunrise from the rooftop is a beautiful site. The teachers have extensive knowledge and I have learnt so much from them. I have done the 300 hour teacher training course and we learnt about many different styles of yoga, some which I had never tried before. Going into the world of teaching, it is very valuable to have some knowledge of different yoga styles. The anatomy and yoga therapy classes have also prepared me for my new life as a yoga teacher. The school is located in a quiet area, away from the craziness of the main road, but close enough so that you can walk 10 minutes into town to pick up anything you need. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and the food is healthy and tasty. They give you a free massage included, the massages are very good here so I've had several!
one of the best schools in India for someone to really learn about yoga. And learn deep. Great facilities, great teachers... totally recomended. You will enjoy a clean enviroment, with a magnificent view to the himalaya mountains. thnx AYM
The AYM 200 TTC in Rishikesh is excellent. Both the ashtanaga and hatha classes are demanding, informative and fun with great knowledgeable teachers. There is pranayama class, in which you learn different breathing, cleansing and meditating techniques. The philosophy of yoga is fascinating, and it has changed my perception of yoga practice. Anatomy and physiology is very informative and usually productive. Lesson planning is useful at most and there are chances to practice teaching the rest of the course, which progresses you a lot. The food is great! the rooms are simple and good. location is perfect. Not to far out if you need anything and really close to nature and a great stream with lots of pools. every place has its small faults, but that are also sometimes out of their control. Happy to be here and highly recommend.
I arrived at AYM with a beginners knowledge of yoga. I wanted to improve my personal practice and maybe, just maybe, graduate with the knowledge and ability to teach. My expectations have been exceeded on every level. The teachers at AYM are experienced, professional and so much fun. I am leaving with a great understanding of yoga in all its forms. Extending well beyond asanas and teaching sequences and into what yoga is truly about it. It's a way of life. A way to better yourself and those around you. It's finding inner peace and sharing your light with the world. I hope to take this knowledge back to the U.S. and continue spreading all aspects of yoga. Thanks to everyone at AYM who made this course truly unforgettable. Dhaniyavaad
Wow, my experience at AYM was incredible, it was everything i wanted and more. The rooms are really great, the buildings are beautiful with great views and the food and staff is very helpful and friendly. The yoga teaching is very deep and thorough. I would definitely recommend to anybody looking at learning yoga in Rishikesh to come to this school.
I am four days out from collecting my 200 hour YTT at AYM Yoga Teacher Training School in Rishikesh. The ashram is located far away from the busy Rishikesh streets. It is hugged away in the magical hills of Rishikesh. The yoga hall has floor to ceiling windows that overlook Rishikesh and the mountains. The morning and evening yoga here is beautiful for sunrise, sunset and scenery. The family vibe at AYM is kind and caring and I have so felt so held and secure during my time here. The food is great, the chef does a great job of cooking for the large group and also has been so amazing in accomdating special requests. If you are vegan the food is great. Very limited dishes served in the month have had diary but those that have he has made a seperate meal for the vegan in the group. The course is both mentally and physically challenging and I have gained a lot for the techniques. Meditation, Prays and Pranayama has been my favourite class. It has opened my mind and has been a small spark to light what will be a roaring fire inside my body to follow my spiritual path. Each teacher has comprehensive knowledge about the subject they are teaching. Come with an open mind, remember you are in India and that sometimes there is power shortages and sometimes you may be without wifi, take this as a beautiful opportunity to explore the world around you. AYM you rock my world.
In general, the Teacher Training course was okay. Teachers were knowledgeable about their subjects. The course material was well rounded, it covers a good range of topics from asana practice to philosophy, anatomy, meditation and pranayama practice. Accommodation is pleasant, though there are some minor faults here and there with the power outages and disrupted wifi connections. Food in general is good but there can be more variety. The lesson planning session was a little too brief, there could be more discussion and guidance on how to plan a complete class sequence. I felt that the lesson planning classes were too touch and go, there could be more in depth discussion on how to properly sequence a class. There was also no lesson on learning the proper pronunciation of Sanskrit words and the meaning of the Sanskrit words, especially for the asana names. Some people were very confused with the Sanskrit names so maybe that can be looked into. In terms of Ashtanga asana practice, there could be more emphasis on learning the common mistakes in alignment for the poses, benefits of the poses, and what are the variations that can be taken if a student is not able to do the full expression of the pose. The pace of the Ashtanga class was also a little too fast.
I have enjoyed this experience so much and definitely recommend the 200 hour course here at AYM to anyone who wants to deepen their own practice and learn how to share the practice of yoga! Thank you thank you to all of the teachers and staff here, Namaste
I just finished a 300 hour YTTC at AYM and all in all my experience has been deep and positive. The Curriculum covers many aspects and there is a wide range of teachers whom all come from different backgrounds to create a well rounded experience. I really enjoyed Each teachers individual style and personality that they offered in their classes. There was a lot of attention to detail and thoroughness in the teachings. Teachers were open and responsive to questions and concerns, although I did notice some limitations to this with the language barriers for some. Not everyone adapts to the "hindi english" as fast so comprehension can be challenging. With every kind of school one will find positive and negative attributes, but at AYM I didn't experience much that I was disappointed or surprised by. There was only a little practice with ayurveda, I was hoping for more as it said in the syllabus online we would have an ayurveda class. Instead we only reviewed ayurveda briefly in a few classes of yoga therapy. The time for Ashtanga Class was late afternoon 4pm, not the best time for intense physical activity right after peak heat. Also felt that as a Teacher training course we could have spent more time practicing the teaching aspects of ashtanga, not just practicing the series. The food was good on most days. Simple and sattvic, although could have used more veggies sometimes, I was mostly satisfied by the simplicity provided. In reflecting on this past month I feel deep gratitude for all those involved in this experience and I would recommend this program to anyone who wants a full 300 hour teacher training experience.
I am two days away from collecting my 200 hour yoga teacher training and I can fully say that I recommend this yoga school to anyone interested in completing a YTT program. I didn't know what to expect when I came to AYM yoga school but everything surpassed my expectations and the experience was extremely enjoyable. The course was very hard work and there is lots to learn, so if you're dedicated and open I suggest you register with AYM. There is always something going on whether it is class or yoga practice or some free time - the time really flew by for me. As a vegan I have to say that the food is amazing. Almost every meal was vegan and delicious. The rooms are in nice condition and the location of the ashram is perfect. There are lots of shops nearby if you ever need anything, and the staff are knowledgable and can help you with any concerns you may have.
AYM is a wonderfully located Yoga school with a gorgeous mountain vista in the Yoga Hall. The teachers are incredibly knowledgeable, insightful, friendly and often hilarious! The mix of Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa will challenge your mind and body and andurance and makes a deadly combination! Mahesh and his family are gorgeous and generous and I loved the day trip to the Beatles Ashram and an amazing Baba cave. Twas a majestic, challenging journey which has brought a great richness to my practice and I have met many wild and wonderful characters from all over the globe. Deep Gratitude Namaste
40 days here passed so fast with my 300 hours training. Location is so peaceful, the food was great, I love the Chai tea with honey at tea time! We worked hard with busy tight schedule and experienced teachers in therapy, meditaion, anatomy... that bring me being a good teacher in here. Thank you so much, hope to be here again! #aym
By coincidence i decided to do a yoga teacher training when a came to India. I had no idea which training i would pick sense there are so many here but then i stumbled on AYM, and for that i'm really happy!! It has been such a pleasure doing my training here and i have learned so much. The teachers here are so knowledgeable and really teach straight from their hearts, weather it is yoga practice, philosophy lesson or pranayama practice. The food here is great, the rooms are big and comfy and the location is amazing, away from the noisy streets, located nearby the mountains with a beautiful view. So if you have any doubt about which YTT you should pick i can really recommend AYM!
I am doing 200hours yoga teacher training now. The room and the environment are great, quiet and clean. the location is not on the main road, so it is quiet.( the main road is so noisy! it takes about 10 to15 minutes by walking from school to restaurants or some stores in the town.I think it is a little bit far from the town. Hatha teacher Jayakumaran is so professional and great that I learn a lot from him.He does his best to teach us how to be a good teacher, not just teach us to do asanas very well. Because of my poor English,I cannot understand all knowledge from some classes(such as anatomy and philosophy. The most important, the food here is really delicious and fresh here. Although I eat three meals here,I seldom feel bored about the food. I must miss food here!!!
I am incredibly grateful and humbled by my experience here at AYM, in Rishikesh! The depth of knowledge, the respect towards the philosophy of Yoga and the humble approach towards spirituality have been a great inspiration for each and every student here. Thank you to all the professors for your sincere commitment to your role as a teacher and the responsibility you feel you have towards delivering us the right message and the underlying philosophy of Yoga. BKS Iyengar said "The art of teaching is tolerance. Humbleness is the art of learning" and I think all of you have expressed this perfectly, despite our myriad of questions ;)!
Very nice school! I did my 300 hours here and am very satisfied with the program: great curriculum, very professional teachers, beautiful view. I got so much knowledge and met so many nice people. But be prepared to stay concentrated to the studies during the whole month, this program requires a lot of dedication. Namaste
I completed the 200Hr TTC at AYM in Rishikesh in April 2016. The school is beautifully located in upper Tapovan, just far away enough to have some peace and quiet from the busier streets, but close enough to pop into town if you ever needed to. The teachers were all humble, good natured and knowledgeable and I felt as my first teacher training it gave me a good starting base for any further studying I wish to undertake. It involved learning pranayama techniques, meditation techniques, mantras, yoga philosophy and teaching methodology, the asana focus being Hatha yoga, from an incredible teacher as well as an introduction to the primary series of Ashtanga yoga. The staff are all friendly and helpful and made Rishikesh feel like home. I would recommend this school as a good starting point for anyone wanting to delve into their yoga practice. Thank you AYM!
A well planned and well situated Yoga Institute at Rishikesh, where they take learning and teaching Yoga seriously. Great set of well educated teachers, and a great atmosphere to learn their knowledge. Comfortable accommodation , great kitchen staff for those lovely Ayurvedic food ,a good ayurvedic therapist in the property for those tired and stiff muscle from the practices . Highly recommended for any level of yoga practitioners, and Thank you AYM for the gift of Yoga.
AYM went above and beyond expectations. The teachers are incredibly knowledgeable, humble and kind. The chefs and staff work so hard and deliver such beautiful food and service. The location is stunning and the ashram is lovely. You really get the most out of this course, not a moment is wasted here as the teachers are so inspiring. I'm extremely humbled and blessed to have had my training here. I leave with so much knowledge and a better human
Graduating tomorrow after a month at AYM completing my 200h YTT, and I could not be happier with the experience. Communication and support from the school from the day I contacted them via email, and throughout the course has been great. The staff (especially Sachin) is attentive and always do their best to accommodate us and attend to us if we need help with anything. The structure of the course is well-balanced, with at least 2 asana classes a day (Ashtanga Vinyasa every morning, and Hatha Yoga every evening), as well as pranayama/meditation, anatomy/physiology and philosophy classes daily. The course runs 6 days a week with Sundays off. The teachers make for a truly authentic experience and you really feel like you're learning from the birth place of yoga. The pranayama/meditation and hatha yoga teachers are particulary inspiring. I would personally recommend coming with some previous experience of yoga asana practice as the programme is quite physically intensive (especially the ashtanga classes). The final teaching practice assignments are incorporated gradually, with the last week only picking up with an open-book written test. Accommodation is good. Clean and comfortable with AC or non-AC options available during the hot summer months. Food is ayurvedic and copious - we never went hungry! Wifi mostly worked well, with a few days of on-and-off, but always enough to stay in contact with friends and family. The school itself is located away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Rishikesh (about a 20min walk away); which is perfect as it's close enough to pop down to for errands and restaurants/cafes, but also removed enough for it to be a quiet oasis perfect for studying yoga in. Up the hill in the other direction there are even some natural pools in a stream which have been a real treat in the hot weather. We had a great group of people from all over the world which made for an active and fun learning environment. I have had a really wonderful time here, I can't believe it's already been a month. It really has flown by! I would recommend this course to anyone. Thank you AYM!
My AYM experience fully exceeded my expectations for a 200-yoga teacher training program in Rishikesh, India. The accommodations: Clean, new, home-y and spacious rooms. The yoga hall has a priceless view of the hills of Rishikesh. The food: A tasty variety of Indian food. Be prepared for lots of rice, chapati, lentils and daal. As long as you like Indian food, you will be happy and healthy while you are here. The location: Just outside the town of Tapovan, which is on the outskirts of downtown Rishikesh. It is a 10-minute walk down a hill to shops and lots of dining. A great "get-away feel" in the hills instead of being in the center of town, which is perfect for an awesome yogi vibe. The company: A diverse group from all over the world looking to learn yoga, have fun, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Rishikesh. Most importantly, the yoga: Thoughtful and creative teachers who care about the needs of the students. It is a strenuous program of 4+ hours of yoga/day and 4+ hours of classroom lecture/day. Dependent on the experience you are looking for, the following could be challenging to you: -It felt more like a social ashram than a quiet, peaceful and meditative experience. It could be dependent on your group, but something to consider. -You should like Indian food because at least six days a week, that is what is served in the kitchen for breakfast, lunch and dinner. -You are not directly in town, but could be challenging to those that want to be in the "heart of the city-center." -The accommodations were nicer than expected, with a high-end hostel feel (private bath or shared with just one other person, washing machine on-site, and shared dining area). However, warm water for showers was limited, wifi came and went and the power shortages that are typical in India happened regularly. All in all – an amazing place with great people, food and yoga.
